The position of the overwhelming majority of Indo-Pak and some Arab scholars is that photographs of human or animal life are not permissible for the very same reasons that paintings of these are not permissible. They state that the ruling on picture-making does not change by changing the tool with which the picture is produced. Whether an image is produced by painting it or using a camera, as long as it is an image of a human or animal, it will remain unlawful (haram).

for the record----muslim scholars are into all kinds of different interpretations on lesser issues in the practice of the religion----the study of which is ENDLESS. The latest report I've heard is that the Mossad was able to learn the brand name of the pager, intercepted shipments of the pagers to Hezbollah and refitted them with explosives and trigger devices, and BOOM!!! 3000 of these things exploded. Those "injured" include the Iranian Ambassador to Lebanon!!!

Apparently, a different make of pages are exploding today. Even better, while these explosions have resulted in multiple deaths and hundreds of critical injuries, as well as thousands of injuries to those carrying the pagers, there has been little collateral damage to people and/or property nearby.

Yes, this is genius. But it only serves to hightlight the cruelty of the mass killings of Palestinians. Added to which, if the Mossad is capable of something this targeted and this precise, why did no one know or come to the aid of the settlers or the concert goers for hours and hours on October 7th????

Why didn't Israeli forces intervene on October 7th. Why was massacre allowed to happen, uninterrupted for hours. So the right could justify genocide against the Palestinians? What about the news that Netanyahu was secretly funding Hamas?????

The pager operation could be a disaster for civil aviation

A few days ago, an unnamed organization remotely detonated thousands of Hezbollah pagers. Leaving aside the moral aspects of this operation, in my opinion what happened could bring big problems to civil aviation around the world.
Lebanon, of course, is a poor country, but it is not North Korea, and people fly in and out of it. Beirut airport is working, receiving dozens of flights a day. So there's a very non-zero chance that there were members of Hezbollah on board the planes departing from Beirut airport.
Further, we know that the pagers went undetected for months. If none of these thousands of owners traveled with a pager/radio abroad, we can exhale calmly....

But, what if not? Then it turns out that one or more people went through the inspection and were undetected. And they know it! And, unfortunately, they are not the only ones.
There's a well-known hypothesis. Its essence is that the measures taken in the field of security may not be as effective as they are estimated by ordinary people. However, as long as this remains a secret -- it is not a problem. The mere fact that security measures are in place discourages potential attackers, and gives peace of mind to millions of airline passengers.

Sometimes the information about possible/impossible can be more valuable than the technology itself. There is a winged expression (I have not been able to find out its original author) that “the biggest secret of the atomic bomb was told not by a spy, but by Truman to Stalin personally. That it was in principle possible to build one. Then it was a matter of technique.
If the airport scanners were ineffective, it would be a minor problem. But now the whole Arab world could find out. And that's the real problem.
