Doge reduced warning and response time for the Texas flood.

local emergency people said they relied exclusively on NWS but there was no indication that there would be that much rain at those points. This is something the NWS has historically been pretty accurate with.
But no chance atmospherics altered the prediction?

No you don’t. You’re just stuck with the evidence and have decided to ignore it. You’re not dumb. It’s worse for you. You’re dishonest.
Lol. Your "evidence" is tainted with a message of fear. It's worse for you because you, like IM2, choose to live in a world of fear and anxiety.

It must really suck for you, needing to stick to the tribal politics of our time simply to score a few political points.

The mayor of DC desn't have a damn thing to do with the floods in Texas. Furthermore, congress controls the DC budget.

She's the mayor of a typical Democrat ghetto.

Stop being a Trump supporter over the lives of fellow Americans. They deserve your help and support.
Nah, your concern is hollow. Nobody's buying it.

Perhaps you'd be more believable if you weren't so condescending to people you disagree with.

Doge taking a chain saw to our weather monitoring and warning systems and to FEMA has made the tragedy of the Texas flood even worse than it had to be. Those agencies were in place for a reason, and should have never been degraded by someone who didn't even understand why we need those agencies.

Yes, it's quite possible that victims of the recent Texas flood could have received earlier or more effective warnings if not for cuts and policy shifts tied to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and former President Donald Trump's administration.

🌀 What Happened in Texas?

On July 4, 2025, catastrophic flash flooding struck areas along the Guadalupe River, leading to fatalities and widespread emergency rescues. Local authorities issued urgent warnings, but the scale and speed of the flooding overwhelmed many systems.

🧩 How DOGE and Trump’s Policies May Have Affected This

According to investigative reporting from the Texas Observer and San Antonio Current, the Trump administration’s DOGE initiative significantly impacted federal disaster preparedness and response:

  • FEMA Cuts: DOGE slashed FEMA’s workforce by about 20% and froze parts of its funding.
  • Disaster Aid Shift: Trump announced plans to phase out FEMA and shift disaster response responsibilities to individual states, arguing governors should handle emergencies independently.
  • Climate Risk Data Degradation: DOGE reportedly dismantled or degraded federal resources that track and model climate-augmented weather risks, such as flood forecasting and early warning systems.
  • Infrastructure Investment Delays: Federal support for flood prevention projects—like levees and drainage upgrades—was reduced or delayed, leaving vulnerable areas more exposed.

🧭 Could Earlier Warnings Have Been Possible?

While local agencies like the Harris County Flood Control District did issue warnings, the broader federal infrastructure that supports early detection, modeling, and communication of extreme weather risks may have been weakened. This could have:

  • Reduced the lead time for warnings
  • Limited the accuracy of flood forecasts
  • Slowed coordination between federal and local responders

So while it's speculative to say definitively that lives would have been saved, the evidence strongly suggests that federal cuts and policy shifts under DOGE and Trump made Texas—and its residents—more vulnerable to disasters like this one.

While it's not clear there was a vivid cause and effect, it is clear that such cuts didn't help.

What is also quite telling is that no public officials will be held accountable for this by the right. There will be no silly calls to deepen the rivers to prevent further flooding as there was to rake the national forests in California when they had their natural disasters.

To be clear, its definitely an open question as to what liability any public officials may have. I tend to think none but we'll see. It would be nice if we didn't rush to judgment as the right always does when the shoe is on the other foot.

I posted interviews from workers at the NWS speaking specifically about how the reductions have negatively affected workers, hours, coverage, and accuracy. Now we have a rare mistake by the NWS that killed 40 and rising.

You just know you love Trump and he can do no wrong. That my friend, is the crazy.

Why don't you put your Trump hatred in your back pocket and deal with reality.

You are one using deaths and tragedy to support your hate for Trump......

Dude, you need a psychological intervention.

Read my links. They paint a damning picture of what went on: massive firings without any studies on the impact, worker warnings and analysis to the unreadiness of the NWS, scrambling to rehire, mistakes and dead people.

Cool, but you can portray anything in a bad light if you spin hard enough.

500 employees from a service that employs 4900. Not buying the doom and gloom.

Regardless what the NWS employees tell you and the dead people because of it. Cool.

Massive firings never happened if you looked into the facts. Something like 560 people left NWS, something like 300 took buyouts, another 200 decided to retire.....or vice versa.

I deal with reality. You live in an imaginary world. Fear has nothing to with me, but you're young and stupid. You think you know everything, but you will learn through the years that at this point, you didn't know anything.
