Doge reduced warning and response time for the Texas flood.

That's cool. Brilliant move! It was a way to weed out DEI hires without being sued for violating the EEO crap and hire back those who actually did the work before carrying the dead weight of DEIs.
Trump could shit in your hand and tell you it’s soap and you’d use it on your face. WTF are you typing? Just made up bullshit.

Feelings. You’ve been told to have them and you complied.
529 NWS personnel fired. They discovered that was crazy and are still scrambling to rehire because most people don’t want to come back. Morale is low. There is no coverage 24/7 in many areas. And now mistakes were made and people died. This is on Trump. Buck stops there.

local emergency people said they relied exclusively on NWS but there was no indication that there would be that much rain at those points. This is something the NWS has historically been pretty accurate with.
I don't think it was the NWS.

I think it was negligence to follow and heed weather forecasts for that area. A failure in planning.

Question:

Do you work for the NWS? How do you know what their morale is like?

What articles or sources have you read that tell you the Trump Administration is "scrambling to rehire" these people?

Sorry, the Democrats own the pathetic state of the ghettos they control.
Democrats don't run Texas, and Democrats aren't in control in DC. If ghettos are such a problem, then Congress can change that. Stop trying to change the subject. Trump has made a mess, and people have died because of it.

Doge taking a chain saw to our weather monitoring and warning systems and to FEMA has made the tragedy of the Texas flood even worse than it had to be. Those agencies were in place for a reason, and should have never been degraded by someone who didn't even understand why we need those agencies.

Yes, it's quite possible that victims of the recent Texas flood could have received earlier or more effective warnings if not for cuts and policy shifts tied to the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) and former President Donald Trump's administration.

🌀 What Happened in Texas?

On July 4, 2025, catastrophic flash flooding struck areas along the Guadalupe River, leading to fatalities and widespread emergency rescues. Local authorities issued urgent warnings, but the scale and speed of the flooding overwhelmed many systems.

🧩 How DOGE and Trump’s Policies May Have Affected This

According to investigative reporting from the Texas Observer and San Antonio Current, the Trump administration’s DOGE initiative significantly impacted federal disaster preparedness and response:

  • FEMA Cuts: DOGE slashed FEMA’s workforce by about 20% and froze parts of its funding.
  • Disaster Aid Shift: Trump announced plans to phase out FEMA and shift disaster response responsibilities to individual states, arguing governors should handle emergencies independently.
  • Climate Risk Data Degradation: DOGE reportedly dismantled or degraded federal resources that track and model climate-augmented weather risks, such as flood forecasting and early warning systems.
  • Infrastructure Investment Delays: Federal support for flood prevention projects—like levees and drainage upgrades—was reduced or delayed, leaving vulnerable areas more exposed.

🧭 Could Earlier Warnings Have Been Possible?

While local agencies like the Harris County Flood Control District did issue warnings, the broader federal infrastructure that supports early detection, modeling, and communication of extreme weather risks may have been weakened. This could have:

  • Reduced the lead time for warnings
  • Limited the accuracy of flood forecasts
  • Slowed coordination between federal and local responders

So while it's speculative to say definitively that lives would have been saved, the evidence strongly suggests that federal cuts and policy shifts under DOGE and Trump made Texas—and its residents—more vulnerable to disasters like this one.

Or it was the almost unprecedented level of rain.

That's it.

Open your eyes. This is not normal. We are being led by a circus clown.

This hiring initiative aims to "stabilize" operations and ensure adequate staffing during hurricane season and other periods of severe weather.

  • “. . . operational unit managers and staff experienced stress, fatigue, and reduced morale resulting from their efforts to cover for vacancies.”
  • “. . . but the long-term result has been that employees are fatigued and morale is low.”
  • “. . . staff are getting worn down covering extra forecasting shifts.”
  • “One operational unit manager we interviewed said staff in his unit were demoralized because they had continued to cover the workload for multiple vacancies.”
  • “. . . staff are concerned that the agency may be intentionally leaving vacant positions open to downsize.”
  • “NWS headquarters officials acknowledged that vacancies had created challenges and stress …”

But they employ nearly 4900 people.

I fail to see what you're getting at.

The mayor of DC desn't have a damn thing to do with the floods in Texas. Furthermore, congress controls the DC budget.

But they employ nearly 4900 people.

No you don’t. You’re just stuck with the evidence and have decided to ignore it. You’re not dumb. It’s worse for you. You’re dishonest.
