My issue with the engaging in war with recreational drug manufacturers and distributors is highly nuanced.
(As always)
I have zero issues with what has happened to date.
But it has been too limited IMHO.
Currently Venezuela has been pumping the Fentanyl and Cocaine into the USA in huge amounts.
But
Columbia and Bolivia are the producers of the cocaine.
Then there's Syria. The world's largest producer of recreational amphetamines and Russia is the largest distributor.
Afghanistan is the largest producer of opiates....from black tar heroine straight out of the poppy fields in Cashmere. Pakistan wants the territory....and has quasi control. I remember the heroine problem the USA had in the early 70's with the addicts then. I lost cousins to the addiction. It wasn't pretty.
We CAN actually stop the illicit drug trade anytime we really want to get serious. We can make it to where these dark corners of the world are scared to death to have any appearance of dealing with these drugs. And everyone wants to be anything but a drugmaker. (Because the black ops guys are going to come for you and erase you....you will never see it coming or have a chance at surviving)
Economics are such that a supply of an addictive product will create demand.
TicTok was never a demanded product until it was created. Now there's a demand for it. Same with all Social media just like this platform. And a case could be made for Social Media's addictive nature as well as its destructive influence.
Supply creates demand through trial and addiction.
So....where I applaud the destruction of destructive leeches on society....
All I am suggesting is that we as a nation decide the limits and the precise definition of those limits and base them fairly and without remorse.
