Do you support Trump’s war on drugs? He’s actively going after drug smugglers on the open seas. I support this. I think it’s about time. People who push and import drugs into the United States are killing and enslaving Americans. Tell me that addiction to drugs is not a form of slavery—it is. Drugs are addictive, and people will steal or do whatever they have to in order to get the money to buy them. This causes most of the crime in our country, much of the violent crime if not most. So I think it’s legitimate. I just wish that Congress would declare an actual war—not against any particular country, but against the organizations themselves—and specifically authorize strikes at sea. Drug smugglers caught at the border should be arrested by the military and sent to Guantanamo. Away from the border, drug arrests would be handled by the DEA.

Has anyone considered why the drug cartels use these “go-fast” boats? Once they enter our territorial waters, they’re nearly impossible to stop. They’re fast, cheap, and highly effective compared to the enormous profits cartels make.

If we interdict one boat, our resources are tied up processing it while several others slip through. That’s the strategy—they overwhelm us with numbers.

The only way to counter this is to destroy the boats quickly and move on to the next, giving us a real chance of stopping them. We must keep this up until the cartels realize they’re losing money and it’s no longer worth the risk. At that point, they’ll invest elsewhere—perhaps even legally.

They do it because it’s profitable. When it stops being profitable, they’ll stop doing it.

Sure they are. They refuel along the way from 'fishing vessels' stationed along their routes. Perhaps we should track them to these vessels then blow them all up.
