Do You Support Federal Funding For California's High-Speed Rail?

Do You Support Federal Tax Dollars Being Spent On California's High-Speed Rail?

Just amazing...

Yeah, and $68 Billion is just the estimated cost. Obviously it will be much more than that figure. Government isn't known for coming in on-budget. I'm just shocked they have the balls to demand Federal Funding for their farce. Unbelievable.

How can you be shocked?!?! This is the idiot liberal we are talking about here! These are the same people who think the constitution doesn't matter, who are ashamed of American exceptionalism, who fought against freeing the slaves and who have brought slavery back through taxes and redistribution of wealth policies, who want to outlaw an actual right (the right to bear arms) while claiming something that is not a right (healthcare) is, and who deeply believe in Communism/Marxism/Socialism. The only thing that would shock me is if they said something intelligent for once...

I totally support this project. It's the kind of thing we should be doing on a national level. We're looking at least 4000 new jobs being created. I thought Republicans loved jobs being created? No?

Those will count as jobs lost when California declares bankruptcy.

You can see into the future?!

You asshole liberals certainly can't. Even sadder, you guys can't even see and understand the past...

Except that it would loose money and just become another money pit. If there was a profit to be made with high speed rail, a private customer would be building the system right now. In stead, you want to tax 300 million people to subsidize high speed transportation for the 10 or 12 people who would benefit from another government boondoggle.

Hmm. Sounds like a lot of unsubstantiated speculation. Which is also known more commonly as "Bullshit." So why don't you rustle up a few links that support, with actual data now, not Right Wing heeby-jeeby feelings about shit, how it would lose money and become another money pit.

Otherwise, I'll call it California being once again ahead of the curve on cool shit.

Simple math tells me it's bullshit. $68 million and 4000 jobs? that works out to $17,000/job, barely minimum wage and you haven't bought land, steel or rolling stock. Conservaderrp is full of shit, as usual.

Your numbers are wrong. Try reading the OP.

I corrected his numbers already. It's $68 BILLION, or $17 MILLION per job.

Is that better for you?

Teabaggers calling me stupid is a badge of honor, Fuckstain. It's sort of like someone who is really stupid calling me stupid.

Oh wait. That's exactly what that is.

That might even be fact, however I'm not part of the Tea Party and I'm calling you stupid. I fully understand that if you can lable me something I'm not that you feel it lets you off the hook for saying something stupid, but that's just not true. That's why you are closing in on the boards idiot, you need about 10,000k more posts to catch up with TM though.

Oh, we'll being called stupid by a Conservative is just about the same level of pride for me. So we're back to dicks and pussies and assholes.

Dicks and pussies and assholes, haha. A great joke made by 2 libertarians. I always wondered why I liked South park, then I realized they made fun of both sides, including people like you... But the morals were always libertarian.

I wasn't talking about Team Amercia; but okay! You can still be dumb!

It is stupid to just go on pretending that there is no end and no consequences to our addiction of petroleum. Visit Europe. You whiz between countries and cities, you sit back and sip your coffee, a glass of wine, eat your cheese or sandwich and watch the beautiful countryside fly by. (We went from Carcassonne in the wine country in south of France to Brussels in one day and loved every minute of it. Before that, we had gone from Paris to Carcassonne - a wonderful and relaxing trip.)

Then, painlessly, there you are at your destination. Rent a car or take public transportation. Easy, cheap and a hell of a lot easier on our environment.

Or, visit some of our major cities where you can grap a Zip Car, a bicycle, a scooter, go where you want, leave your vehicle of choice at one of the zillion drop offs, pick up a new one later as needed, no huge car expenses but a lot of convenience.

Even if you don't care about the environment, we could save a huge amount using rails to move people or "things". Makes more sense to ship everything by rail to "hubs" and move by truck from there.

But, I see that 80% of those who answered the poll would rather be beholden to foreign oil than be independent of them. Lucky for you, the corrupt R's agree with you because they make a lot of money by keeping us chained them. Think Bush's open mouth kiss with the disgusting Arab.

But hey, we have no way of knowing where Mitten's money is hiding ..................... Maybe he's not in bed with foreign oil. What do YOU think? LOL

Christ Luddly, you sit here and decry our dependence on foreign oil while cheering the environuts that make drilling our own oil almost impossible.

I think you did too many drugs in your younger years...

Guypin ... You don't read real news so you have no way of knowing that President Obama has okay'd more drilling permits than any other president.

Jeezus fucking krist. Open your eyes. Turn off fux and get some real facts into your narrow little existence.

Democratic Lawmakers just gave the green light to start building an estimated $68 Billion high-speed rail line in California. This, despite California being very deep in Debt. They have also requested partial Federal Funding for the project. Should Non-Californians be forced to give their Tax Dollars to this project? What do you think? How do you feel about that?

Absolutely not.

First if Private Companies can't make it work, then don't do it.

Second California is the most Broke ass state in the Union, Precisely because they keep spending Fucking Money like this. The Federal Government should not keep helping states live beyond their means.

Wow, if you envy the other nations so much, then why not move there ? Germany was one of the most technological nations in the world, but it was also evil at one time to.. Are we becoming more evil with envy these days in America, and this over what others have in respect to what we don't have ? Japan was also an evil run empire, and it was highly technical as well back in those days. Not to say that we don't need to be high tech as well, but we should put the American stamp of approval & design on it, and not make it, design it or market it after others in the world, especially out of pure envy and/or jealousey to be involved when doing so. There are many who loath their own nation now, and yet they stay here and use her and abuse her while speaking wonders about other nations that probably won't have them even if they did want to move to these places.

I wish we could once again define what America is or who we are, because their are many now who want us to be like those nations over seas faster than a speeding bullet train, but why ?? Is America in some sort of race again, like the space race or something ? Are we in a bullet train race now with other countries ? They probably had to develope the trains and other forms of transportation, in order to carry the millions of poor slave working people in these communist/socialist nations to their work stations, where as they don't make enough money to own their own car or rather the government doesn't fork out enough money to have a decent highway or roadway program in many of these nations to accomodate them if they did. We have the super interstate system in which they don't have, and it is that they are probably quite envy of that freedom in which we do enjoy so in this nation as well. Our interstate system would dwarf a bullet train system, basically rendering it obselete in the way of keeping our nation strong and running smoothly. IT IS A WASTE this idea.

Infrastructure spending is never a net negative in the long run. Man, you Teabaggers really do get massive boners from money hub? So fucking shortsighted.

Are you fucken kidding me? And where exactly did you get this little gem of knowledge?
And if you think giving 4000 people jobs to the tune of 100 billion dollars is a good return on investment you're a complete moron.

No. In not kidding. And you are clearly shortsighted. It's not just tr 4000+ directly related NEW jobs that will be created. It's the ancillary jobs too. Every stop will need to be staffed, tourism will take off.

Infrastructure spending is good, and always has been. Conservatives would prefer dirt rpads and buggies, I know.

Like all the repair crews maybe? Every time there's an earth quake it's going to get trashed.
Are you like 18 or something? I cant imagine why you would think this is a good idea under the circumstances.
The state of Cali is broke with no improvement in sight. Noway the ridership will support it or pay for maintenance for that matter.
This isnt china, people love their cars so no one will use it.
The whole thing is a bad idea that would only benefit a small minority.

It is even stupider to think that going backwards to 19th century technology is going to solve anything.

That would account for the property bought, the steel, the trains, etc.. We might as well up the 4000 direct jobs to include all those indirect jobs created by the people who make trains, steel, the food wagons that serve the workers lunch, etc.. Then we need to consider the private investment that happens whenever there's a new train station, or more passengers. Maybe some new center city hotels, restaurants, cabs, etc..

Bullet trains are 19th century technology? You might as well say that cars are caveman technology, since they both rely on the wheel.

tag on $30 billion in debt for a round up number of $100 billion. but about 1/2 of taxpayers who are buried into there personal entertainment and work, who has time w/o sleep to fathom what has happened. california continues to be smothered by illegal immigration sucking off welfare and some wonder why there is exponential debt in california.....try dem control legislation and unfunded liabilities in the union sector that bankrupt the state...ask stockton.
