Do you know why speech codes shouldn't exist?

I know that on some college campuses have rules in place about what can and can't be said in order to protect people's feelings. It sounds really nice but these rules can be misused against people. Consider the case when someone lies on purpose to get another student in trouble. It may not even be political. Maybe the student just wants to get revenge on them so they say student X said terrible thing Y and now that student is facing suspension.

Has nothing to do with "speech codes". Lying and proclaiming one's innocence is as old as time itself. If you are getting to a PC topic then I agree it is nonsense and should be dealt with on a case by case basis.

Bullying and so forth gets worse in a PC environment, in my experience.
