I think that 'civil rights' are simply Grants , Favors and Permissions ready to be revoked by 'goverment' at any time

actually the constitution is why there are civil rights.
-------------------------------------- as I said , Civil Rights are simply , grants , favors and permissions that government can revoke at any time as my understanding and that would be Legal Playtime

and you gave a couple of examples in your post number 455 Playtime .

Civil liberties and the Bill of Rights
The federal government is obliged by many constitutional provisions to respect the individual citizen’s basic rights. Some civil liberties were specified in the original document, notably in the provisions guaranteeing the writ of habeas corpus and trial by jury in criminal cases (Article III, Section 2) and forbidding bills of attainder and ex post facto laws (Article I, Section 9). But the most significant limitations to government’s power over the individual were added in 1791 in the Bill of Rights.

Do you believe that civil rights needs more attention, or it already have had enough and it's time to move on?

Why/why not?

equal protection under the law is the law, but the 14th amendment is slowly & methodically being eroded... the voting rights act, banning transgendered from joining the military, to the most recent - allowing the violence against women's act to die. if it's not fought to remain, then it will die too.
--------------------------------------------- SEE the example of weird 'rights' that YOU mention in post number 455 being revoked by 'government' Playtime .

I know about the Bill of RIGHTS but I am talking about 'wussy' civil rights that can LEGALLY be revoked Playtime .

A definition of civil rights is necessary to make such a decision.

A little, not a lot.

There is still work to do, but minorities have enjoyed 'protected class' status for a half-century.

If you haven't gotten your act together after half-a-century of preferred status, then it's not all History's nor The Other Guy's fault.

It's entirely possible that White America has reached a state of 'Donor' Exhaustion and has grown bone-weary of all of this.

Enough already.

You asked.

We have them. Stop fighting for rights you already have.
But just because we have them (on paper) doesn't mean that they aren't being violated.

The right to be free from unreasonable search & seizure (the 4th Amendment) is constantly being whitled away utilizing electronic means. Most people don't even notice what's being done.

They know. They just don't care.

Yep.

Plus, the end goal is one thing - the methods are another.

Individual rights need to be vigorously protected at all times.

And excellent example of one of the deepest fundamental differences between conservatives and liberals.

Conservatives believe that it is the duty of the government to protect our god given rights.

Liberals believe that the government gives us our rights.

And that is why no liberal should EVERY be allowed to be a judge.

the gov'ment can try - but can be challenged in court.

based on the constitution. now... if courts are stacked with dirty judges, then that opens up a whole world of hurt

------------------------------------ i think i agree with that as far as the 4th , 2nd, and the 1st and maybe other original Bill of RIGHTS Rights but those are the original Bill of Right 'RIGHTS' and are different than the made up out of thin air modern Civil RIGHTS or Grants and Favors that i say can legally be removed by 'government' at any time . Regarding Civil 'rights' i don't even really know what they are as i don't recall ever using them MaryAm but i'll try to find out what they are . One silly example is Playtimes mention of 'transgenders 'right' to join the military . That mention of transgenders supposed 'right' to join the military sounds like silliness to me MaryAm .

Our Constitution and supreme law of the land was ratified by the People.

The civil rights issue essentially goes down the same path as every other important issue.

Even if we agree there is a problem, if you don't agree with MY method of dealing with it, there's something wrong with YOU.

That's what happens when we lose the ability to communicate and collaborate.
