the details were quite simple and fair: Convert to Christianity or you're free to leave and go elsewhere. Nothing wrong with that deal. Many chose to lie and stay anyway, and thus couldn't be trusted and considered a 'fifth column' and threat to the national security, a perfectly reasonable assumption, and a far better deal than Muslims and their Jewish soldiers offered anybody in their conquests of mass slaughter and looting.
