There are evil murderous scum in the world, that's just a fact. This weekend a grandmother was taking her 3 year old grandson to the mall. Some scumbag got annoyed granny was driving too slow so he opened fire on the car killing the 3 year old boy. He didn't die right away either he suffered and died later at the hospital. If you were serious about lowering gun violence, you'd have to acknowledge that minorities commit the vast majority of gun violent crimes. If we locked up thugs for longer periods of time, we wouldn't have much of a gun violence problem.
