Libertarianism is first and foremost a philosophy about protecting private interests. It doesn't care if you want to be a bigot. Deny blacks and gays a seat at your lunch counter all you like, just don't interfere with the free market.

The fact that Trump was even on stage at a libertarian even is astoundingly insane. They are supposed to be opposing the 2 major parties, not kowtowing to one of them.

The party has been lost for awhile now though, it is tough to run a party when most of the core values are counter to government in the first place.

I actually think it’s a good sign that the nominee of a major party felt like they had to come to the Libertarian convention to beg for votes, and I don’t see anything wrong with inviting them. I’m not afraid of hearing from Trump or Harris at a libertarian function, and I also don’t have a problem with them being booed out of the building when they say something they deserve to be booed for.
