According to Putin and I have to agree. Who would disagree and for what reasons?
Regardless of whether Putin is lying or not, there's comfort in hearing his guarantee:

The president made the remarks during the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF) in response to a question about his stance on using tactical, low-yield nuclear weapons as a deterrent. Putin said his attitude about the idea of using such weapons was “negative” and pointed to Moscow’s nuclear doctrine.
Let's have a serious discussion!

Yeah, i remember back in the 1930s when a Democrat Socialist said that he wouldnt invade France.

A valid point! Putin could be lying and is already planning to win the war by going nuclear. He must know that's the only way Russia can defeat America.

But I really don't think so, because of M.A.D.

Neither will America or China turn to nuclear war.

But the question remains unanswered. Is there some comfort to be gained in having the discussion.l

We already know that America is totally opposed to any mention of nuclear weapons.

To be completely honest, America doesn't want to have to face the prospect of victory not ever being possible in a war against another nuclear superpower!

There are a lot of questions that can be answered by having this discussion. And I think there are also a lot of fears that can be laid to rest, at least in part.

MAD only works if both sides uses them. I dont think Joe Biden has the balls to retaliate if Putin goes Nuclear.

Did you know back in the 1960s that the United States had already developed an anti missile missle called Nike Hercules? It could bring down a nuke before it hit the US? The Democrats thought it wasnt fair because if the United States ever started a war, we could use our missiles and the enemy couldnt respond? Think about it, we stopped our anti missile tech, just for M.A.D. That is equitable outcome.

You're definitely suggesting that America can defend against a nuclear attack. So even though I would say that's irrational, it's good to add it to the discussion.

If you're confident in what you're saying then you can go on without fear.

I didn't start this discussion thinking it would be very popular, but I'm pleasantly surprised at how much interest it's raised so far. Those of your convictions should have no reason to shy away.

So, you're saying that if he is lying (which is highly likely) we should take comfort in his lies? I feel way better already.

We did have a deterrent to a nuclear attack. But the Democrats in the 1960s scrubbed the Nike Hercules for "FAIRNESS" because it wasnt fair we would survive a nuclear war and other countries wouldnt if ever the nukes were used. That was when M.A.D. became the new normal.

I hope this enlightens you on how Democrats then and now think. It isnt fair if anyone or country is better than another, so they must punish everyone equally.

Your story is interesting. Did Russia get some concession from America in trade?
