Discipline

...

After a few trips to the principal's office, detention, some suspensions, and no change in behavior, it is likely time to give up on a disruptive student and let the parents find a more suitable environment for him/her.
...
That's what happens now.

Is it? ...
It is. If you had read the whole thread you would know that the school chronically, criminally problem students get sent to in my district is where I taught for years.

We are 465th place in academia globally.
Here is #1. Disciplined can be achieved, so learning can proceed. Here is the headline that accompanies these pictures:
SINGAPORE — Not only are they tops in the world in literacy and numeracy, Singapore’s students are best able to work with one another to solve problems, the triennial Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) has found.

Are you terminally stupid or still working on it? 465th place? Where did you come up with that? Did you not get an education and now you are pissed because you wasted the opportunity?

Let's a see a link to that figure! If you don't, we will confirm you are a massive idiot.

Describe "disruptive."
I had a kid that he would probably call disruptive while teaching in a rural high school in Kentucky. He was in my math class and performed the services of the class clown. He just loved the attention. We had an adversarial relationship throughout my time there. The bad part is that he was actually very funny and I had to fight to maintain control of the class.

Fast forward, to a couple of years back. My daughter was serving as a paramedic in a neighboring county and was assigned a new partner, She was very impressed with him and told me he was her regular EMT assigned to her crew.
They worked together about 2 years. One day, he happened to look at her Facebook profile which had her maiden name. She asked her if she knew anyone who had been a teacher at his high school. She said that I had worked there for three years. He said your dad was my math teacher! One day I was visiting, and they had to make a run by the local hospital and stopped by on the way back to the neighboring county and I got to see him again. He thanked me for my discipline that kept him working towards his education. He had a wife and a newborn baby that he said he never would have had if I hadn't set him on the right path. I was floored!

If an aircraft mechanic started a thread about aircraft mechanics, I would not jump in pretending I knew better than him about aircraft repair.
Yeah but you are not. You are a teacher. This doesn't mean you have a higher knowledge of children than parents do. Or what works with them, or what doesn't.
The U.S. Education system, as a whole, is a complete disaster.

My education was stellar, and here is who provided the information, you nasty little piece of work.

The Program for International Student Assessment (PISA), coordinated by the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), has measured the performance of 15-year-old students in reading, mathematics, and science literacy every 3 years since 2000, except for a 1-year delay in the current cycle (from 2021 to 2022) due to the coronavirus pandemic. In 2022, PISA was administered in 81 countries and education systems, including 37 member countries of the OECD.

If you weren't so busy attacking the posters here, you would have already seen the link to that figure.

Grow up...

Oh, but we do! I had a parent tell me their daughter was a lesbian and needed special treatment. Our entire staff in the meeting were amazed when we informed her that she had to constantly be reminded about kissing her boyfriend in the hallway between classes! I was the assistant principal at the time and had that girl in my class the year before! So yes, we do know the kids better than some parents!

That is what parent-teacher conferences are for when a student is not performing. But you knew that, didn't you?

So why does your district accept them? Why do you teachers put up with it?

You education was apparently poor since you didn't not provide a link to that information. I am very familiar with that testing program, and you are obviously not, because a ranking of 465 is impossible.

Nice deflection, but an epic failure on your part once again.
