Learning Recession

In a rational world, single motherhood would be extremely rare. There is no reason today to have an "unwanted" or "unplanned" child. Birth control, abstention, and abortion are almost always available. Even for women of means who wish to have a vanity-child, the statistics on life-success of children raised by a single woman are daunting indeed. If you don't have the resources to nurture a child, you should not have one.

So unless you are talking about a widow or a woman who divorced because of extraordinary abuse, don't talk to me about how difficult it is to be a single mother. Most of them made choices that put them in that difficult situation; it was not imposed by others or by fate.
