Discipline

You didn't read it, did you?
What's with your obsession with Huck Finn as a validating work?

What if he didn't, but DID in fact read Tom Jones by Henry Fielding and numerous works by Washington Irving? Would his opinion still be disqualified? You sound quite ridiculous asking him that again and again, and are obviously just grasping at that one little thing you can find which will make you feel superior for the moment.

I certainly hope you weren't on the debate team in high school. They'd be doomed.

When was the last time you were in a classroom?
Reagan was President

My sister in law is a teacher in Putnam County, very gifted teacher too! And she gets the same One Size Fits All classroom as everyone else. Ridiculous. Waste of her time and talents

Here is #1. Disciplined can be achieved, so learning can proceed. Here is the headline that accompanies these pictures:
SINGAPORE — Not only are they tops in the world in literacy and numeracy, Singapore’s students are best able to work with one another to solve problems, the triennial Programme for International Student Assessment (Pisa) has found.

Singapore's education system is amongst the best in the world, but there is always room for improvement, writes the author.

...
He got all bent out of shape because I pointed out that an article I quoted was not my personal opinion. Do you get it yet? Huckleberry Finn? Imagine reading certain passages aloud in class.

Unkotare As I remember it... you are a wrestling coach... am I right?...so what do you know?... are wrestling coaches smarter than golf coaches???
You Can't Get Improvement by Listening to Those Who Accept the Fundamental Faults in This Defective System

What if the principal made you spend all your time with the kids you had to cut from the team, instead of improving the skills of those who made it on the team? The Educationists' insult to talent explains all their failures.

Another analogy is that you don't send the best golfers to a special school for athletes. The parasites who get rich off humiliating talent want to make them social rejects.

Have you asked her if she believes all students deserve an education?

Unkotare 101 - and why you need to ignore him -

"I AM RIGHT!!! YOU KNOW NOTHING!!! SHUT UP!!!!

That is all he posts.
If an aircraft mechanic started a thread about aircraft mechanics, I would not jump in pretending I knew better than him about aircraft repair.

Educating the Former American Way Would Surpass the Asian Way

Why do you post things like this when you clearly have NO idea what you're talking about?
As I have and have had a lot of educators among friends and family ranging from preschool to college, coaches, principals, superintendents, why do you think keeping a disruptive student in the classroom so that learning is hindered or impossible for the other students is a good thing?

When I was in school, when my kids were in school, we all knew the rules. And we knew the teachers' warnings and orders were not something that could be challenged or ignored or might be enforced. We knew they WOULD be enforced. And we did not resent it when they were enforced. And we got a world class education that allowed us to be successful, to compete with anybody.

After a few trips to the principal's office, detention, some suspensions, and no change in behavior, it is likely time to give up on a disruptive student and let the parents find a more suitable environment for him/her.

Yes there is positive discipline and wrong discipline. But making the classroom a learning experience for all but those who don't want that is not wrong discipline.
