Three people have been killed by a virus that had until now only infected animals, sparking fears the disease could spread to more humans. Four cases of the Borna virus have been reported in Germany so far in what scientists believe is the first confirmed evidence the disease has spread to humans. It comes after three of the four reported victims received organ donations from the same patient.

That was a different time era yes, but today we are splicing and dicing DNA so severely with in animals and humans it kind of heightens the threat of new diseases that now will hop between species where as before it was far and few in between that could do so naturally.
