DeSantis is playing on Trump's base.
The war between them is hilarious even though it just started.

"The Florida governor released a new video presenting him as a savior anointed by God to save the country, which the former president perceived as a direct threat to his grip over right-wing evangelical voters -- and historian Sarah Posner told the Washington Post that Trump was right to be concerned."

"Trump knows that his base believes God anointed him to lead America at a critical juncture, and that many of them believe him to be a messianic figure who alone can rescue America from what they call demonic forces (liberalism, civil rights, 'deep state,' and more)," Posner told the Post columnist Greg Sargent. "None of Trump’s potential rivals have so blatantly tried to claim that divine blessing."

"It’s a very dangerous sign that DeSantis is reading the base — which has been bombarded with ever more radical claims of anointings, prophecy and spiritual warfare against the left — as receptive to savior alternatives to Trump," she added.

I haven't seen the video. If you have, please post it. Should be entertaining to listen to the "anointed" DeSantis.

Taking god's name in vain is the only way it can be taken.

You should tell the DNC to donate more of your money to Trump, since the plan of donating your money to Trumper candidates so they could win their primaries but be easily whooped in the general elections worked out so well.

Look, God may very well already sent Jesus back. But I can assure you, this new savior is not going to be some billionaire philandering piece of shit that sleeps with porn stars, goes into beauty contestant dressing rooms to get his jollies, and is so self-absorbed that it qualifies as a mental illness. I mean what Bible are these people reading?

So, DeSantis should make a move to carve these people out. But damn, is he any better? Justice, mercy, humility. Those are God's requirements, it is that simple. So how can he anoint a savior that doesn't exemplify each of those requirements? Hell, Trump fails on humility alone, although justice comes a close second, all those last minute pardons. DeSantis--tell me, how is shipping off those Venezuelan refugees count as mercy? Or justice? Or even humility, because let's be honest here, it was not about them, it was about him.

I don't get it. Neither Trump nor DeSantis is a likeable person. I mean both of them are the type of person that I would have to fight back a strong urge to kick their damn ass. They are both DICKS, and yes, in all caps. It blows my mind that redneck, pick-up driving, gun loving yahoos actually embrace them. And so-called Christians, yep, they are going to have some explaining to do come judgement day. Can you say "Peter"?

A day before the mid terms the best the left can do is make a ridiculous comment about Trump's or DeSantis Christians? That's why lefties will lose big time tomorrow. All the left has to offer is killing unborn babies, castrating kids and rants about Christians.

I don’t understand why God picked Trump. But clearly He did. How else could Trump have succeeded in ending the mass murder brought about by Roe v. Wade, when every Republican for about fifty years failed to do so?
So, DeSantis should make a move to carve these people out. But damn, is he any better? Justice, mercy, humility. Those are God's requirements, it is that simple. So how can he anoint a savior that doesn't exemplify each of those requirements?
When did God tell you that those are His requirement for those who carry out his will? Saul was a tax collector, which in the Roman times were even worse than IRS thugs. They beat and tortured their fellow Jews to force them to pay up. Saul’s sins were far worse than Trump using gold-diggers for sexual pleasure.

Yet, he was used by God to spread the word and grow the church.
Hell, Trump fails on humility alone, although justice comes a close second, all those last minute pardons. DeSantis--tell me, how is shipping off those Venezuelan refugees count as mercy? Or justice? Or even humility, because let's be honest here, it was not about them, it was about him.
It is mercy for the Floridians who will not be killed by those illegal aliens as so many other have been.

It would have been merciful for the asylum seekers, if that’s what they really were, because there is so much available housing on Martha’s Vineyard. Good try to help them, but DeSantis didn’t expect the ruthless and rapid reaction to the presence of undesirables on the part of the residents of MV.

Why do you think those gun loving rednecks voted for a Yankee blowhard? It was because he seemed as if he would not kowtow to the media/Democrats as did every Republican since Reagan.

Peter will dance with joy to welcome those who voted for the savior of so many unborn children.

I guess no one told the OP that Trump just endorsed Desanctimonious yesterday :) Trump does nicknames, it's his thing. I think DeSantis is smart enough not to damage the party with a bloody fight. Trump would be wise to choose him as VP but I doubt he'll have a number two that could become more popular than he is.
I'd say Kari Lake but he'd have the same problem.

Regardless of who comes out on top, either Trump or DeSantis will be the next president, so this is hardly bad news for the GOP. :dunno:

This^ coming from someone who supports a party that openly, joyfully backs abortion on demand at any point in a pregnancy.

Democrats are trying their best to gin up a war between Trump and DeSantis. It's not going to work.

Sanctimonious means hypocritically devout. Trump was giving De Santis a compliment.
