I am happy to report that I ended up owing less than I thought I would to the IRS for 2009.

How'd you do?

I didn't have to write them a check so I guess I won.

Substantially worse than expected.

Just barely missed out on a penalty for underwitholding.

I got a little bit back but only because I remodeled two houses and put new roofs and windows in them. If not, I would have needed to write them a check this year. I can't remember the last time I got money back from the tax collectors. I don't know what to do with it. I suppose the wife will go down to Wal-Mart and stimulate their economy.

Got bucks back which we use towards property taxes. One way or another it sure isn't our money.

With the $8k homebuyer's credit i came out dandily. Also figured out a way to write off my health ins. prems. And after writing off some improvements on a rental property I had no quarterly vouchers to pay for the first time in maybe 10 years. Hoo-ray!

I keep miscalculating my taxes. I'm overpaying because I do not fully account for qualified dividends. I don't know why I keep doing that but the last few years, the IRS has been sending me a check back that I don't expect.
