Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp (R) got a tough lesson Wednesday just hours before the state legislature was supposed to convene for a redistricting special session he called: Life comes at you fast.

At the last minute, Republican lawmakers shot it down. In a stunning letter to Kemp, Georgia House Republican leadership said they “will not be taking up congressional or legislative redistricting for the 2028 election cycle during this special session.”

The letter was signed by eight House Republicans, including Speaker Jon Burns. The group appeared to take issue with what would likely have been a rushed redistricting process, and also cited pending legal cases as another reason for their refusal to go along with Kemp’s plan.

Not every R has sold their soul to trump. As his popularity wanes, and the disasters he's created continue to unfold, I suspect even more will gather the courage to do the right thing. The right thing in almost every instance being to oppose what trump is for. In this case, the subversion of democracy.

These people have already caused profound damage by refusing to babysit him, so they have a long way to go before they can even make it back to "decent".

The right thing to do, is your opinion, framed by your bias. Now I agree with the Georgia Republicans in this case but it is neother right or wrong depending on your view.

You must of missed the part that there is no federal law that only allows states to redistrict only once every ten years, in fact is, the mandate is the state must redistrict at least once every ten years. In fact 40 states allow redistricting more often, another fact is 10 states only allow it every 10 years, those that don’t are Alabama, Alaska, Kansas, Missouri, New Jersey,New Mexico, New York, North Carolina Pennsylvania and Tennessee.
