Braces?
but the teeth seem straight enough------I think it is
decoration-----maybe there were sparkly things attached.
People have been sticking gold into their teeth for a long
time------

(squints) Looks more like ornamentation for religious or other reasons than dentistry per se'. And coulda been done post-mortem further ruling out actual dentistry.

Devout Buddhists file down their teeth while living as a religious devotion. But that doesn't mean they've had "dentistry" so much as some really weird stuff going on. :) And they can do it post-mortem if they choose to.

The reason I said braces is because it seems like the bottom jaw is damaged somehow and the gold looks to be holding them in place.

Yeah they could've been doing it on a body for practice..good point

Reason Ithought that is the work is symmetrical. If it were proper dentistry or curative it shouldn't be symmetrical. Thus it looks more ornamental than corrective.

Doesn't mean there wasn't dentistry to some degree 4000 years ago, just means this particular example coming from the people who invented makeup, was more lilkely decorative than curative. :)

Have you noticed some of the places the younger generation hang gold ear rings from other than their ears?
