Dems with two Pubs vote to bar Hegseth's military base name changes to those of Confederate heroes

Describes a lot of liberals on here.
The antifa ones for sure, and the ones for suppression of speech they don’t like, and the gun control one’s, the socialism, the bigger government, and…

Yeah kinda makes it confusing they call us Nazi’s while wearing the badge proudly.

I was comfortable with the fort names back when I didn't know that Hood and Bragg were confederate generals. Now, not so much.

I knew that Bragg and Hood were not very good commanders.

Better they fought for the CSA than the Union.

Hood was ok as a Corps commander. Bragg was so bad he could have been a plant by the Union.

Hood thought he throw his troops at entrenchments. Fool.

Yeah, Bragg was terrible. The former VP, Crittenden, at Shiloh was telling Bragg to keep attacking at the end of the first day.

Bragg said, "No." Grant said, "We will get them tomorrow."

I've been to Shiloh more than eight times. I have a relative buried there. Pro-tip: Don't charge concentrated rifled infantry on horseback!

Trump is still behind Biden in deportations. Trump just does it with more flare and cruelty. Biden deported 257,000 Feb to June. Trump about 200,000. LOL.
Yeah but biden allowed millions to flood the border too. Thats kind of like a store putting an item on sale but marking the price up first so at the end, you're paying the same price.

Also, did all those illegals that biden deported get a due process? Did they all have a court date?

Yeah, but trump is behind and biden and Obama, and will always be there.

These people were Americans who bravely fought in a war, right?

They were people who started the first war (fort sumter) and tried to suceed from the union because they wanted to keep slavery as part of their lives.

Bottom line it was an act of treason.

So how does that deserve them to have a military based named after confederate soilders.

They called it a civil war but it was actually a rebellion

They want to name something after them, then name a rest stop with toilet after them.

I served at a number of such named bases.

Emotionally none of it relates to me.

However, logically I believe the names should not be CSA in origin.

Strangely, it was during the first World War and the Wilson era that Democrat majorities in Congress named these military bases...
Camp Bragg was established in 1918 as an artillery training ground.
Fort Hood was created in 1942.
Both military facilities originally named by Democrat majorities presided over Democrat presidents Woodrow Wilson and Franklin Delano Roosevelt.
There was nothing "strange" about it.

It was the Jim Crow era and Wilson and the Democratic Party were very racist in those days.

That’s one. What else you got?
🛫 Airport Renaming Proposals

1. Washington Dulles International Airport → Donald J. Trump International Airport
  • Introduced by House Republicans including Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-PA) and Rep. Addison McDowell (R-NC) in 2024 and again in 2025
  • Intended to honor Trump’s presidency and legacy
  • The bill has not passed and faces strong opposition from Democrats

2. Nashville International Airport → Trump International Airport
  • Proposed by Tennessee state Rep. Todd Warner in January 2025
  • Part of a broader effort to honor Trump in Republican-led states
3. Oakland International Airport → Oakland San Francisco Bay Airport
  • Finalized by the Port of Oakland in July 2025
  • Though not directly a GOP initiative, the renaming sparked legal disputes with San Francisco over branding and regional identity
  • Municipal Ownership & Naming Efforts

    1. Township Name Changes in Michigan

    • In 2021, Rep. David Martin (R-MI) sponsored legislation allowing Michigan townships to change their names via public vote
    • Aimed at resolving duplicate names and improving local identity

  • 2. Gulf of Mexico → Gulf of America

    • In 2025, President Trump issued an executive order to rename the Gulf of Mexico
    • Some businesses, like Chevron, have adopted the term “Gulf of America” in official communications

  • 3. Washington Commanders → Washington Redskins (Proposed Reversal)

    • Trump has publicly called for the NFL team to revert to its former name, claiming it honors Native American heritage
    • He also pushed for the Cleveland Guardians to return to “Indians”

  • These efforts reflect a mix of symbolic rebranding, political messaging, and cultural positioning. If you’d like, I can dig into how these naming battles have played out legally or culturally

Cool story. Just School name changes alone during Obama dwarfs your PROPOSED changes by hundreds.

I never worried about the names of Confederate heroes for our bases. Served at Fort Hood and Fort Bragg.

But times change, don't they? The CSA was a traitor nation, yes. There you go.

The Tennessean Nashville

A House committee attempted to ban Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth from using official funds to change military base names to evoke their original, Confederate-inspired titles in a rebuke of his war on diversity and inclusion policies in the military.

The House Armed Services Committee passed an amendment to its annual defense policy bill barring the Pentagon from using any of the funds from next year's defense budget to rename Defense Department installations in honor of Confederate figures.

So what you are saying is that you didn't worry about them until you where told to worry about them, how very sheeple of you.

Where the 5 "civilized' Tribes that fought for the Confederacy traitors to ?
