Dems Lose 5 Seats In Texas

I realize that. It still has to go to a vote. From what I've read, voter's aren't keen to Newsom trying to do this.
I live in Texas. There wasn't a vote for redistricting besides in the Texas house. CA probably does it the same way. Now, what do you think?

I seriously doubt if California votes to give Trump the majority in Congress that he wants by getting Texas to cheat.
Ma'am, voters in CA want to decide themselves, through an independent panel and not let the government take that away.

Apparently you assume things about California and you assume I'm a woman. Both assumptions are wrong. I seriously doubt if California votes to give Trump the majority in Congress that he wants by getting Texas to cheat.
Where to begin?

1. Trump already has a majority in Congress.
2. Texas is not "cheating". They can redraw their lines anytime they want.
3. If anyone is cheating, it's Newsollini in California where the voters passed a state-constitutionally mandated independent redistricting board.

Like wow, man.

Texas Senate passed it, house will......Abbott will sign it.

CA is supposed to use an independent panel instead of what Newsom is pushing. He is trying to pass an amendment to the CA constitution to bypass the panel.

LOS ANGELES — California Gov. Gavin Newsom faces a major hurdle in his quest to revamp his state’s congressional lines, according to a new poll: Californians’ deep support for its current independent redistricting commission.

By nearly a two-to-one margin, voters prefer keeping an independent line-drawing panel to determine the state’s House seats, the latest POLITICO-Citrin Center-Possibility Lab survey found. Just 36 percent of respondents back returning congressional redistricting authority to state lawmakers.

And it was enshrined in the California Constitution by popular initiative. Newsome can't undo that.
Not without another initiative on the ballot. Which Gavin is seeking and will likely get.

If he does, it's an open question whether the good people of California will vote as cynically as the legislature to kick "independent" (such as it is) redistricting under the bus.

if (R)s ran on their policies alone, they know they would lose every time.

lying, cheating, & stealing is all they have.

He claims he has the votes to amend the constitution, to go around the will of the voters, which would be a dreaded 'authoritarian/ dictatorial action'.

I doubt Newsome can get an amendment qualified, here is the process: "

Amending the California Constitution

The California Constitution can be amended through both legislative and popular involvement, reflecting the state’s democratic principles. Amendments can be proposed by the California State Legislature or through a citizen-initiated ballot measure. Legislative proposals require a two-thirds majority vote in both the Assembly and the Senate before being placed on the ballot for voter approval, emphasizing consensus among elected representatives.

Citizen-initiated amendments empower the electorate to propose changes directly. This process requires collecting signatures from registered voters amounting to 8% of the votes cast in the last gubernatorial election. Once verified, the proposed amendment is placed on the ballot for a statewide vote, highlighting the participatory nature of California’s political system.

The dual pathways for amending the constitution ensure a balance between representative and direct democracy. While the legislative route emphasizes deliberation among lawmakers, the initiative process provides a direct avenue for public engagement. Both methods require voter approval, ensuring any constitutional change reflects the will of the people. This dual approach has led to a dynamic and evolving constitutional framework responsive to Californians’ changing needs and values."

Thanks for the AI.

In CA, the Dems have a supermajority in the state legislature, so if Gavin asks for it, he'll get it.

Sue ALL STATES that have no Democratic Party Representatives as well!

There are two states with no Republican in the House of Representatives.

There are 12 States with ZERO Democratic Party representatives in Congress, in the House.

Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Vermont, New Hampshire, Hawaii, New Mexico, Connecticut, Delaware, is this not correct?

Mass - all 9 are dem
Rhode Island - both are dem
Vermont - won't count this as there is only 1
New Hampshire- both are dem
Hawaii - both are dem
New Mexico- all 3 are dem
Conn. - all 5 are dem
Delaware - won't count this as there is only 1

Exactly. Dems learned last cycle that demographics are not voting destiny. MAGAs will learn too.
Progs cause pain for the regular folk. Highways, bridges, water, electricity, railroads needing upgrades and not getting it. It is pain and suffering in California. And the people want more of it.
