One amendment can be undone by another. Newsolini wants to place a constitutional amendment initiative on the ballot at the next election to "temporarily" pause the so-called independent panel.

If it passes (which is by no means certain - even CA Dems have their limits), the Dems in the legislature will be able to gerrymander to their tiny black hearts' content.

Though I have to ask - if the "independent" panel gives the Dems 43 House seats, what more could openly biased Dems do? I don't think even they can somehow bury every single one of CA's 10 million Reps in safe Dem districts.

They favor an independent panel to the extent of allowing Trump to call a governor and tell him to change a map so Republicans can keep a majority even if people oppose what they are doing.
