The Second Amendment has a certain amount of armor around it in the minds of most Americans, just like the shields on a Star Trek ship. But every mass shooting that goes down chips away and chips away some more at said armor or shields. Sooner or later, likely sooner, enough mass shootings will occur within a close enough span of time that both sides of the political aisle will be calling for an end to the Second. What we need to do is create some sort of constitutional modification to enshrine certain rights, such as the Second Amendment, so that they can never be amended or taken away. As for the democrats? They're just virtue signaling to themselves and their god of Woke with all their latest gun control talk. They might as well be pissing on electrified fence for all the good it will do them.

The single point failure in Uvalde ended up being the simplest possible safeguard that was defeated by a teacher propping open a door. This is NOT an uncommon practice. My wife occasionally has to go to a school in a bad area that has a massive wrought iron fence, and doors that self lock. The problem is the locks are touchy and the teachers keys don't always work. so guess what? The teachers prop open the doors. There is no one stop solution here. School shootings are a multi faceted problem and needs to addressed with rational people talking to each other. Our government is the exact opposite of rational people talking to each other. And the Media is only too happy to throw gas on the fire because it gets more viewers.

As to the political left's initial claim that all they wanted to do is stop the selling of AR-15 style, it didn't surprise me that they next said they just want the 9mm handguns added to their list, and of course now, they want the Second Amendment repealed, because of some fringe elements.
When China (our enemy) said that the American people owning firearms was a problem with them and the left gleefully jumped on that bandwagon, it wasn't surprising as they are actually now run by Marxists in the party.
The legacy of the left which they will happily take credit for, is the murder of hundreds of thousands or millions of Americans that refused to cooperate by turning in the firearms which were legal on purchase and they legally owned without committing crimes with them.

As to the political left's initial claim that all they wanted to do is stop the selling of AR-15 style, it doesn't surprise me that they next said they just want the 9mm handguns added to their list, and of course now, they want the Second Amendment repealed, because of some fringe elements.
