That is an emphasis on Individual rights sometimes in spite of the majority.
It's designed specifically to be sure ALL have a voice if not an equal one.

It might not really be a good thing to have the majority dictate to the minority. Even if at a distance it appears that way.
Besides, if there are 600 million citizens and 299,999,999 people want it this way but 300,000,001 want it that way and the "Majority" has it's way, that means a LOT of people will have to live by the others rules.

It's all about compromise and America was pretty good at it until the era of Socialists, Communists and Marxists besieged the land.

What is "Equality"? Do you define it as meaning others do things your way only?

Here's an exercise for you.....
Burn an American flag in public (no problem...free speech)
Burn a LGBTQ flag in public (felony hate crime)

A white person calls a black person the N word in public (hate crime)
A black person calls a white person a "cracker", "honkie" or whatever (perfectly ok)

A person in NY carries a concealed handgun in NY without a permit (Felony in NY even though it's a Constitutional Right SCOTUS confirmed)
A NY politician denies a citizen the ability to carry a concealed handgun in NY for self protection (Perfectly fine in NY)

There are FAR too many examples of this for your statement to have any credibility.

Rights are indeed being stomped on. It's just that you have no problem with the vast majority that are being stomped on

I, lib. I used to be a democrat. I went to caucus and various other Dem social meetings. I remember when democrats used to listen to us. That was what Democracy was about. I was told, at caucus (literally, "WE tell YOU what the issues ARE")..how democratic. THIS is why I fled the democratic party.
