Dan Rather is far from disgraced, he is a pillar of journalism, who was fooled by Karl Rove, who planted a fake story to stop criticial analysis of George W. Bush's (also fake) National Guard career as a "pilot".

He may have gotten thru flight school, but he was no pilot in the National Guard. Who knows who filled out his flight log, to say nothing of someone like him getting thru flight school. It happens with the protected class, which W. has always belonged to.

Bush barely flew anything, he barely even knew how to fly. There were pilots from his National Guard unit who said they would know if Bush was flying and they don't remember him. His father, a Senator, knew his son was an idiot and kept him out of the sky, in order to not destroy his political career.
