Dallas: Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress & a Bell P-63 Kingcobra collided & crashed with each other. It's unclear how many people were on board both planes

Looks like you may be mistaken concerning the pilot......... Looks like the P-63 pilot may have hit a drone first.

Dallas Midair Tragedy: New Videos Show Startling Change in Flight Path of P-63

The NTSB has released its preliminary findings. The fighter did not hit a drone. It was following the air boss's orders to change flying "lanes". Turns out the air boss was brand new and never did this before.

Like Juan points out, at Reno it is not legal to pass an airplane on the inside. You HAVE to pass it on the outside. Why? Because when you go wings up to another plane, you can't see it anymore.

The guy in the P63 was following orders and never saw the B17 until he hit it.

That makes it even more tragic

Yep, it basically means NEITHER pilot screwed up. This blood is on the air boss's hands.

But the reason I gave before as to why the planes hit stands. He never saw the B17. It was under his engine cowling the entire time.

Glad they cleared that up. Would hate to be in the air boss's shoes knowing I was responsible for that crash and resultant deaths.

Suddenly we await the facts.

Air boss was incompetent, arrogant, and never gave the slightest consideration to safety. He did not even allocate minimums on altitude, he let the boys 'wing it', and his radio call for the fighters to pull in front did not specify the B-17 that was in front of the fighters, leaving the fighters (and the P-63) believing they should lead the formation and to get in position. As the P-63 raced to do this he had traffic in front he didn't see and was not warned of.

Air boss being sued, but he works in a body shop.

Yeah, we knew that within a few minutes of the crash.

Nice to see it confirmed, but not news.

No we didn't. We knew a few days later, but by then people were saying that the p63 hit him on purpose which is absurd. But the NTSB does not say the air boss was arrogant. In fact it said he had 20 years of experience doing this.

Actually, we did. Those of us in the airshow/air race world were following the action in real time.

My buddy on scene told me within 15 minutes that the air boss fucked up.

That means nothing. When two planes collide during an airshow with a performance such as this, the first person blamed is the airboss. That's normal.

The comments the air boss made to investigators after 6 people died on his watch were stunning, not only arrogant, but also contemptuous of safety protocols.

To be clear, I'm not saying the air boss wasn't at fault. I'm simply saying its normal to blame him/her first. Doesn't mean they are at fault. But I'm certain this time they were.

Just imagine what a Muslim air show would look like.
