By ACTUAL history of the horrors that we've perpetrated on Black America. And that's NOT just the slavery days. To teach ONLY about slavery makes racism a "distant problem" for kids.. It ought to include Jim Crow and segregation and red-lining and ALL those in the appropriate grades and be an EVER PRESENT portion of the curriculum that is AGE appropriate and where the prerequisite learning has been established in the lower grades.
I 100% agree! That is exactly what I think. And some of those have repercussions today which provide good material for open discussion and critical thinking. I believe we are on the same page. What I don’t actually know is what exactly is being taught I don’t kids, school curriculums differ from place to place, and all this anger and might might distorting what goes in most schools.
Problem is that American education is so PACKED with virtue-signaling nonsensical teachings (like the world is gonna end in 12 years because of a 1 degC rise in mean Earth temperature for past 80 years) that 60% of the kids are NOT proficient in ANYTHING anymore..
That is your opinion. A lot of other people have a different opinion and to refer to it as “virtue signaling nonsense” is frankly dishonest. For better or worse these kids are going inherit the mess YOUR tribe and MY tribe will leave them. The least we can do is give them the most up to date science to help them understand. The world is changing.
And your clan is pounding the "dumbing down" of what's taught with lowered, but "equal" expectations for all that they are actively SEEKING to END "advanced placement" and "gifted programs" because they can never achieve racial parity in those endevours. This is WRONG.. Wrong direction and a surrender to the folks who are doing the LOWERING of expectations. That in itself is racism..
I haven’t heard that but it doesn’t surprise me, and I fully agree with you that dumbing things down is bad, as well getting rid of gifted programs, along with participation trophy mentality. I’m not a big fan of a lot of SJW ideas because they tend to be over simplify cause and effect and ignore complexity With top down ivory tower approaches. I prefer ideas that roots, community centered and meet the individual needs of that community.
Meanwhile you might take a look at what your clan is doing. They are seeking to siphon off the better student through taxpayer subsidized private school vouchers leaving public schools saddled with the problem students, the poor students and fewer resources. They saddle teachers with so many new restrictions that they don’t dare say or teach anything thought provoking for fear of being fired, fined or charged. They seek erase the experiences of indiginous peoples, minorities and women and replace them a narrative that was prevalent in the 50’s. At same time they try force Creationism dressed as intelligent design on us as science and put stickers on textbooks stating evolution is just a theory.
And you wonder why education is such a mess? It is not just one tribe. Look at your own.
I am voting wrong? Oh that is rich.Teaching Math Through a Social Justice Lens
Teachers are drawing on high-profile issues such as policing, the spread of the pandemic, and campaign finance to explore math concepts.www.edweek.org
LEFTIST WOKE SHIT LIKE THIS -- is exactly WHY our public school performance is a disaster. Hard to TEACH ACTUAL racism -- when this poppycock advice is coming from the top level wizards designing our education system..
AGAIN -- you're voting wrong to fix the problem.. Problem isn't adequately teaching RACISM -- the problem is to cut the shit about math, science and history and even a LOVE OF KNOWLEDGE -- all being a CAUSE OF RACISM.. It's insane and the public school system WILL make itself irrelevant if the Dem forces and their new Marxist allies get their way..
