I 100% agree! That is exactly what I think. And some of those have repercussions today which provide good material for open discussion and critical thinking. I believe we are on the same page. What I don’t actually know is what exactly is being taught I don’t kids, school curriculums differ from place to place, and all this anger and might might distorting what goes in most schools.

Problem is that American education is so PACKED with virtue-signaling nonsensical teachings (like the world is gonna end in 12 years because of a 1 degC rise in mean Earth temperature for past 80 years) that 60% of the kids are NOT proficient in ANYTHING anymore..

They are seeking to siphon off the better student through taxpayer subsidized private school vouchers leaving public schools saddled with the problem students, the poor students and fewer resources. They saddle teachers with so many new restrictions that they don’t dare say or teach anything thought provoking for fear of being fired, fined or charged. They seek erase the experiences of indiginous peoples, minorities and women and replace them a narrative that was prevalent in the 50’s. At same time they try force Creationism dressed as intelligent design on us as science and put stickers on textbooks stating evolution is just a theory.

They are trying to use math to increase critical thinking and analysis which teachers feel will be the skills needed in the 21st century and beyond.

Racism is the lacnk of knowledge and the lack of knowledge includes holding on to antiquated outdated ways of teaching subjects like math.

In skimming the article, it sounds like they using current issues and events as a way of increasing interest in math, not changing HOW it is being taught. Getting students interested in math has always been a struggle so I don’t see this as a bad thing.

Whites make up 70 percent of all arrests. Crime is higher in white communities. But watch the per capita excuse come out. Per capita we are killed by police at 3 times the rate of our population, but whites who make the per capita excuse claim more whites are killed by police and ignore per capita. So I will ignore it here to say that if your community commits 7 out of every 10 crimes, thats the high crime community.
