Former KCPD officer Eric DeValkenaere to remain free on bond awaiting appeal in death of Cameron Lamb
The judge said DeValkenaere should be allowed to remain free through the appeals process because he's not a flight risk, nor is he a danger to the community.

"A former Kansas City, Missouri, police officer convicted in connection with the death of a man while on duty will be allowed to remain out of jail while he appeals his conviction. A judge ruled Eric DeValkenaere did not need to be remanded into custody while awaiting sentencing on his second-degree involuntary manslaughter and armed criminal action convictions in the death of Cameron Lamb.
In the original case, the judge agreed with the state's argument that DeValkenaere and his partner were the aggressors in this incident because they did not have probable cause that a crime had occurred and entered private property without a warrant or consent. The judge said DeValkenaere should be allowed to remain free through the appeals process because he's not a flight risk, nor is he a danger to the community. DeValkenaere is scheduled to be sentenced on March 4."
Well, it was bad enough that this guy is being inconvenienced enough with even having a trial...but to add to that, they had the audacity to convict him too?? The least the judge could do is allow this guy to remain free until the appeals process plays out...which will hopefully take many months to years...hopefully the state will just admit they were wrong and drop the case....
Luckily his bond was only 30 grand; that's a pretty good deal to be able to not have to spend a day in jail; even tho you were convicted of murder. Bout time we start giving cops a benefit of a doubt instead of trying to hold them accountable all the time.
