I am not like the typical Democrat. When a person tells me the truth, as you did, I thank you and also thank you for your service. Yes he was a Major at his peak rank. Majors when I was in the Army are not company commanders. They were in higher positions such as S1 through S4. Company clerks should be picked primarily from the clerk school. I was not though I had steller service in basic as the chosen platoon Sgt, by the Captain that commanded the company at Ft. Ord, Ca. He never explained to me why he picked me. I did have 2 years of training in the Calif. Cadet Corp but was never higher than a corporal. I also was chosen by the Platoon to go to leadership academy. It qualified me to assume a platoon at AIT.He was a Major. He commanded a company, nor have I found him in command positions at Brigade or Division.
We truly relied on our company clerks. Thanks for that service.
My final command of troops was as the unit commander of the 100+ men that with me went to Ft. Benning GA. We later picked up on the train an officer who was by law my commander.
