Confirmed: Trump’s big U.S.-China trade deal was a flop

“It just doesn’t get any better than this," President Donald Trump proclaimed in January 2020 as he signed a partial trade deal with China. Mr. Trump heralded the pact as “historic” and “momentous.” He touted his dealmaking abilities for getting China to commit to purchase an extra $200 billion of U.S. products in the next two years.

The results are in: China didn’t buy anything extra from the United States.

The purchases of U.S. exports that China did make in the past two years barely got back to the amount China was purchasing in 2017 — before Mr. Trump started his trade war, according to calculations by Chad P. Bown of the Peterson Institute for International Economics. U.S. exporters will never get back the sales they lost, and few have seen any meaningful growth in their sales to China under the “deal.” “The only undisputed ‘historical’ aspect of that agreement is its failure,” said Mr. Bown.

Whats Biden doing about it? He's president now, ya know.

You think Hillary was sharing information with the Chicoms, since she had people spying on the president?
They just roll these new CT variants out on you guys like a mental virus don't they. Change a few bits here and there and presto "You got her now" Again, for the last time.

How is Biden's trade with China working out?
Well since you asked,

Biden has largely maintained Trump’s policies toward China. In some cases, the administration even built on Trump’s signature measures, while paring back policies considered legally vulnerable and increasing the emphasis on human rights.

I provide that information for context, don't think I am falling for your attempt at deflection. The OP points out that the Trump trade deal with China, specifically, his much heralded "Phase One Agreement". In that agreement Trump agreed to scale back the 15 percent tariff to 7.5 percent, suspended the addition of new items slated for the 15% tariff, and eliminated all together the increase on the third tranche of items from 25% to 30%. In return, China promised to buy 200 billion dollars in additional goods from the US. As the OP reflects, they didn't increase their spending by two nickels. Just another example of the claim that Donald Trump a master negotiator is as big a myth as his claims of being a great businessman.

"A promise". China got something immediately for a "promise". Just like the Taliban, they got something immediately for a "promise", that the Taliban would protect American citizens, no longer hang with Isis, and hunt terrorists down. These are the kind of idiots Trump "negotiates" with.

You can make up whateverthefuckuwant.

With Joe, no one needs make up anything. What do you need me to post here, video of Biddum stuttering? Stumbling and falling over, burping, or wet farting disgustingly all over the Pope and a lady at the global climate summit?!

All readily available. As if you didn't know.

Only because Jinping knew that if he held out for two more years you suckface bleeding-heart leftwing socialist America-hating cretins would come to the rescue and stop his trade policies.
What the hell are you talking about? Can you not read the OP. Jinping didn't have to do shit, except promise to pay for a hamburger on Tuesday. Trump gave him the damn hamburger, and Tuesday is long gone and we still ain't paid for the hamburger.

Furthermore, Biden has kept the trade restrictions and tariffs regarding China in place, and even expanded them. You should be applauding him for that, except--well traditionally Republicans have been opposed to tariffs and supported free trade. But then Trump came along and you sorry shits who can't stand for anything, fall for everything. I can tell you, I think he should remove all of them. They are stupid. They cost Americans at least 51 billion dollars a year. If China can make steel cheaper, they buy their cheaper steel and steelworkers can go find another job. That is the way a FREE MARKET works. I mean what is the difference between a steel worker losing his job and a soybean farmer going bankrupt? Since when did Republicans believe in picking winners and losers? Oh yeah, now I remember, since Trump. The real RINO's are Trump supporters.

Maybe we ought to be more concerned with the actual failed trade policies of the man actually IN the WH now.

And with that:
  1. His failed economic policies.
  2. His failed Covid policies.
  3. His failed supply policies.
  4. His failed crime policies.
  5. His failed foreign policies.
  6. His failed budget policies.
  7. His failed infrastructure policies.
  8. And his failed border policies.
To name a few.

Gee, what HAS Biddum actually succeeded at?

CONFIRMED: nothing.

So, does this mean I get to arbitrarily hope for the failure of anything Biden does, regardless of the positive impact it may or may not have on America?
