i say the latter....that the confederate flag is just an issue of distraction

Anyone that would commit such a crime is certainly mentally ill.

Are you kidding me?

I didn't ask, "Did he have repulsive ideas", I asked, is there any evidence that he was suffering from any kind of mental disorder...

Legally, he doesn't have a leg to stand on. He does not meet the definition of legally insane. He was aware of what he was doing was wrong and he fled the scene.

Mentally ill? Of course. Legally insane? Clearly not. They are completely different states in criminal law.
