Colorado folds, Trump on ballot

Agreed.

Unlike you, I despise Trump and want him off-the-ballot in all 50 States.

But it has to be done with legal clarity and making a case for the decision that will withstand subsequent appeal and review.

That's not the case that the Colorado Supreme Court served-up, unfortunately.

So Trump stays on the ballot... for now.

Now... if Sleepy Old Uncle Joe issues an Executive Order proclaiming that the January 6, 2021 riot in DC was "insurrection"...

And... if Trump is named specifically as a participant in that Insurrection....

Then the States will have a legal leg to stand on....

But not otherwise...

As usual, the Democrats will screw this up, like they screw-up MOST of what they touch... idiots.
Joe can’t declare it an insurrection, that’s the job of congress, and the doj. but I’d love to see the optics of Joe trying to declare his opponent is ineligible for office…that would make for some great tv.

Yep…this is where this path leads. Inevitably…it will end up disqualifying both candidates.

Interesting in the circumstance in Maine, it was the Secretary of State who decided that she was responsible for deciding what candidates the population is allowed to vote for.

Maine’s Democratic secretary of state on Thursday removed former President Donald Trump from the state’s presidential primary ballot under the Constitution’s insurrection clause, becoming the first election official to take action unilaterally in a decision that has potential Electoral College consequences.

"However, Bellows' office said her decision would not be enforced until the courts weigh in."

So an honest news report would conclude she is really doing nothing at all.

Dan will have to take it to court as well. With no evidence of an insurrection or rebellion against the Constitution at the border the 14th is out of the equation. Patrick is just playing to the ill-informed Faux base. Benedict Donald gave up on a border compromise deal with Speaker Nancy Pelosi because he is the worst negotiator in history.

Is it? I truly do not know.

Where in the Constitution or subsequent statute does it say that Congress must declare an Insurrection?

Serious question.

And it would keep an arrogant autocratic existential threat to American representative democracy off the ballot.

Aww did Faux Not News forget to inform it's customers that the Co. SC stayed it's own order on Dec 19th and is just now telling the Rabid right about those facts?

Yep looks like they did.

Why be scared of the liars at Faux?
Fake News.

CWC stayed the order until Jan 4th...the day before the final decision has to be made on Jan 5th.

She is pushing the courts to make a decision. Well see if they are strict constitutionalist like they claim or not, because the language in plain.

On Dec 19th we knew the order was stayed until at least then. So yeah fake news for the Conned-Soomers of Faux Not News.

They have MADE the decision to keep Trump on the primary ballot.

That's all that matters.

I could care less if Colorado decides to interfere with the general election.

It will only help President Trump if they do.

We told you.

SCOTUS isn't going to uphold that insane decision and most knew it

Colorado to include Trump on 2024 primary ballot as state GOP appeals to Supreme Court

The Colorado supreme court song:

Yep, and you remember that whole “national popular vote compact” that 17 states signed on to, where they will potentially ignore the votes of the people in their states to award all of their electoral votes to the winner of the national popular vote? Well, Republican state controlled legislatures represent over 270 electoral votes….should those state just decide they are going to ignore the will of their voters and award their electoral votes to trump…well, it would suck for them but that’s the game they are playing.

What grounds are there to take Biden off ballot? Certainly not the 14th section 3.
As the party of retribution, I think they feel obligated to pretend that Biden is as corrupt as Benedict Donald.

Full on Stalinist commie.

The Colorado SOS announced today that Trump WILL be on the ballot.
"Colorado's Secretary of State Jena Griswold said Thursday that, with the appeal filed, Trump will be included as a candidate on the state's primary ballot unless the U.S. Supreme Court declines to hear the case or upholds the state supreme court's ruling."

Which hasn't changed since Dec 19th when the decision came down and was immediately stayed by the Co. SC.

"A majority of the court holds that President Trump is disqualified from holding the office of President under Section Three of the Fourteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution. Because he is disqualified, it would be a wrongful act under the Election Code for the Colorado Secretary of State to list him as a candidate on the presidential primary ballot. The court stays its ruling until January 4, 2024, subject to any further appellate proceedings."
