Warren and Bethel win tight Georgia Supreme Court races

Incumbents prevail: Justices Sarah Hawkins Warren and Charlie Bethel won reelection against Democratic-backed challengers in heated nonpartisan races.

Key issues at stake: Abortion rights and judicial impartiality dominated the campaigns, with both incumbents having upheld Georgia’s six-week abortion ban in 2024.

Political implications: The victories maintain a Republican-appointed majority on Georgia’s high court as it faces future rulings on voting rights and redistricting.

But, but, but, I thought a blue wave was coming?

I recall a big deal being made of more voters casting their ballots in the GA Democratic primary than the GA Republican primary.

OK dems, what happened here?

I am not sure people are expecting a bunch of conservatives to suddenly change to liberal because the GOP is corrupt and incompetent. I think what you are seeing is that Georgia is very narrowly conservative still. That doesn’t mean they will support a corrupt incompetent government of Trump that they clearly disapprove of.

Having said that.. I agree it would be a better sign for Democrats if the race went the other way.

The voters rejected crazy and are likely glad the fed mandated gerrymandering has been ended.

Your OP painstakingly makes clear it was hard fought and close. That isn’t a voter rejection genius. That is a slight edge in political preferences. We are a few old racist grandpa deaths from coming out on top there. I hope you are young enough to see.

Meh, there is no trophy for second place in an election....Only debt and despair. Your ilk lost.
