This issue exists as nothing more substantial than grist for the race pimps' mill.
I don't know what ordinary Blacks hope to achieve by pounding this tiresome drum and calling for some kind of punishment for Sterling, who is a very rich man. How much can they really hurt him and why should they bother to try? He has a legal right to speak his mind and the worst they can hope to achieve is to drive him into luxurious and leisurely retirement. How will that serve the interest of racial integration?
Certain social aspects of racial integration can be achieved via the force of law, such as equal access, equal pay, equal rights, etc., but acceptance cannot be forced. Any effort by Blacks to punish some White person for expressing his/her anti-integration views will serve no purpose other than discouraging other racially intolerant Whites to keep their racist feelings to themselves, thus suppressing constructive and honest dialogue, further alienating the two factions and diminishing the potential for gradual acceptance -- such as would occur via the natural course of events.
Sterling has made his feelings toward Blacks known and who has been harmed by the revelation? Is it some big surprise to learn that a prominent White person prefers to avoid social contact with Blacks? Do the race pimps believe that making so much noise about it is going to further the process of inter-racial acceptance? The unfortunate fact is it will serve the diametrically opposite purpose because of the annoying antagonism it incites on both sides of the issue.
American Blacks need to understand there are many Whites who want nothing to do with them. Raising hell about that isn't going to change anything. And there are many Blacks who harbor extreme dislike, even intense hatred, for Whites. The only purpose served by concealing those feelings and deceptively pretending they don't exist is that of perpetuating racial antagonism -- which benefits no one but Al Sharpton and others who feed on this tiresome social phenomenon.
