The government has nationalized most all industries. (Mostly mining, refining, printing and motor/transformer windings....some agricultural products too)

It's NOT just one general.

It's 24 of them PLUS their families and it's looking like more are going to be arrested.

The charges levied are NOT what they actually did.

And CCP couldn't have taken Taiwan anytime they wanted. Sure, they could have attacked but in this case purrhic victories are still a loss. And it definitely would have been purrhic.

There is really no such thing as a "naval embargo", as if a nation puts an embargo in place it stops all of their trade with them, via air, land or sea.

I think what you actually mean is "Blockade", that is when they try to stop other nations trading with a country. And that is considered to be an act of war, and China would largely wreck their Navy trying to enforce that.

Exactly what kind of screwy "capitalism" is it where the state can order the execution of the leadership of a company? China has a long history of occasionally executing the high leadership of their puppet corporations. That is because all corporations there are in the end State Owned. And any kind of bribery or embezzlement is ultimately theft against the state itself, and that is exactly how they treat it.
