China remains a threat to Taiwan - Trump is trying to prepare but the disloyal democrats are not cooperating

When did Joe B become a mouthpiece for the CCP? I'll bet he subscribes to the South China Morning Post.

No, but my wife is from China and she often sees broadcasts from CCTV.

Now, here's the thing. As much time as we spend obsessing about China, China doesn't spend nearly as much obsessing about us.

Except those were recognized as Chinese territory as far back and the Qing Dynasty.. when most of those other countries didn't even exist.
Ummmm no. China never made any claim to the S. China Sea. When confronted, China's lame excuse is "historical right" but cannot provide one shred of evidence that the country made the claim long ago. China is a signatory of UNCLOS. UNCLOS stated that every country with shoreline owns 200 miles of EEZ. China ignored that but complain about US violating international law for seizing Venezuelan tankers. Hilarious.

You know that? Ask your wife about this.

China will send 1 million people to find 1 grain of sand if that grain has strategic and economic value to them.

Ask her if that true or false.

Chinese officials and scholars trace China’s maritime claims back to the Qin and Han dynasties (circa 221 BC–220 AD) and claim its maritime boundary was established during the Qing dynasty (circa 1644–911): “China has maintained her sovereignty over these island chains by ways of discovery, naming, mapping, patrol and control, public and private use, administrative allocation of jurisdiction, and other manifestations of authority throughout history.”1

Oh, it's probably true. What's your point?

The problem with Westerners is that they don't recognize most of China's attitudes come from the 100 years of humiliation between 1839 and 1945.

I think Trump understands the threat and is prepared to respond

But America is so divided can we beat the chicoms with one hand tied behind our back?

I wish I knew the answer to that

Ultimately, I believe Taiwan will wind up being toast in the long term. China is a force to be reckoned with and the close proximity between the two makes it pretty much all but impossible to save Taiwan. They will be assimilated at some point in the future, no matter who is president. But, democrats like to talk a good game and will be first in line to condemn it in the "strongest possible terms".

China has zero chance militarily against the combined forces of the rest of southeast Asia. If they go into Taiwan, suddenly they'll have a war on 15 fronts. They can't sustain it.

I predict everyone chickens out.

This is true. The whole concept to me of a forceful invasion is ludicrous but I am not in charge of China.

A little more color on them.
Wow! They built 5! How many landing craft hit the beach at Normandy? Any idea?

People have been saying that since the late 1940s. How well has that worked out?

Given what we are pulling in Venezuela right now, we really don't have a leg to stand on to complain if China reasserts her legitimate territorial claims on Taiwan.

The new world order is Russia taking Ukraine, China taking Hong Kong and Taiwan, and the US taking Venezuela, Cuba, and Greenland. All the superpowers will be expanding their regional interests. And, yes, the US has to jump on that train or fall behind.

Trump doesn't want to rile Beijing when it comes to Taiwan and you can't never say that China remains a threat. Trump told the Japanese PM to shut up when she made a remark that the Taiwan crisis is an existential threat. A government source told about Trump's phone call to Takaichi: “In reality, Mr. Trump spoke to her in quite harsh terms. It seems he even went so far as to tell her something along the lines of, ‘Don’t meddle in the Taiwan issue.’”

No, Those were both terrible. Has nothing to do with China's valid territorial claims.

Except Sealion was never really a priority for the Germans.

You see, the Germans were happy to leave Britain alone, as long as they had a free hand to do whatever they wanted in Europe. They also thought they could starve the British out through submarine warfare or by taking the Suez Canal.

China's claims from 500 years ago died when they lost control of the areas closest to the Islands.

Nice TDS answer.

I'll help out.

Biden supported...

Bombing of Yugoslavia and I don't believe Clinton received permission to go to war against Yugoslavia.

First Iraq war

Second Iraq war

Invasion of Afghanistan

Intervention on Libya's internal affairs

But but but Trump, right?

Except China's claims aren't from 500 years ago.

China had a valid claim to those Islands as recently as WWII. Only after Vietnam and the Philippines became independent did they try to make claims on these Islands they have no historical link to.

(And I love the Filipinos, I think they are wonderful people. But this is stupid.)
