China escalates the trade war

China is beating us at our own game,

Thats simply not true

America is a capitalist society where individuals outside of government make practically all the decisions

China is a modified communist dictatorship where government manages and directs the economy

We are two totally different systems
The game isn't who has the better system, the game is Hegemony.

The pain is real

But confronting china is necessary

You are looking for the easy way out and there isnt one
Don't assume just because Trump is doing it the hard/wrong way that there is not an easy/better way of doing it.

Or maybe why no one tried before. Because quite honestly, we have the best economy in the world. Who's taking advantage of whom? I believe if you knew all the facts you'd realize it's American Corporations who dominate the planet that are taking advantage of the way things are now. And instead of fixing what's really wrong, they've got you going after China and illegals.

You want to fix the economy? For who?

Yes, the wealthy have significantly more wealth and assets than the rest of the population, a trend known as wealth inequality. For example, in the U.S., the wealthiest 1% of households hold a disproportionately large share of the total wealth, with some reports indicating they own more than the bottom 90% combined. Similarly, globally, the richest 1% own almost half of the world's wealth, while the poorest half owns a much smaller fraction. This disparity is a result of factors like concentrated stock ownership and other economic trends that have disproportionately benefited the wealthiest individuals, leading to a widening gap between the rich and everyone else.

Conservative billionaire Harlan Crow provided Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas with decades of undisclosed gifts, including luxury trips, private jet flights, and the purchase of Thomas's family home.

The rich outside our government have taken over our government. Oligarchs.

Thanks for that obvious observation

In the short run, such as china has enjoyed for the past 30 years, communism has some advantages

But it also has intrinsic weaknesses and we will win the 2nd half

We have the best economy for the top 10%

But our blue collar workers are suffering thanks to the loss of manufacturing

Our economy is not so wunnerful when open border libs worry about the price of tomatoes unless farmers can pay slave labor wages to illegal migrants

US cannot win if US companies and consumers continue to build the Chinese military.

Now the regime is resorting to distorting market prices with price controls because it got us in to a trade war we are losing.

I know

Our druggies are making the drug cartels rich

And we are all contributing the china’s military and the death of future US soldiers every time we purchase Made in China

How? Is America really the indispensable nation that the world can't live without, or is that just propaganda we tell ourselves? Take away the American Hubris and we are not as indispensable as we think. The fact that we must have military bases all over the world to enforce our hegemony suggests we aren't. Don't get me wrong, I want America to prosper far into the future, but the damage that has been done can't be undone. Many decades of bad foreign policy are coming back to haunt us as the rest of the planet is catching up to us and threatening to move ahead.

Please explain that last sentence. I think we all wish migrants would only come across our border to pick fruit and then leave at the end of the season. This country has benefited from this for hundreds of years and we should continue to do so.

It only became a problem when Reagan signaled to employers that he would no longer be going after illegal employers. Bush 2 too.

"In 1999 (Clinton), the United States initiated fines against 417 companies. In 2004 (BUSH), it issued fine notices to three."

I don't think a lot of people realize how tapped out the middle class is now and it can no longer party like it's 1999. The top 10% are now responsible for 50% of consumption now.

And Republicans refuse to see it. American (whites) are not having kids but they refuse to acknowledge why. They'll say it's because they are selfish but the fact is who would want to have a kid today?

Our parents said "don't have kids you can't afford" and we listened. Probably the only public service announcement we ever listened to.

So you graduate highschool and you are fucked if you don't go to college or a skilled trade. But let's say you go to college. It took you 8 years and now you have debt. So it's going to take you 8 years to pay off the debt. Then you have to save for a home. That's going to take you several years. Then you need to make sure you are maxing out your 401K if you ever plan to retire. If you are having kids, that means an expensive wedding.

Now add to this the average American only stays at one company for 5 years. Back when our parents had kids, they expected to work for the same company for 30 years. Retire, get a pension. Union jobs so the pay was good. Today if you don't have a degree, skilled trade or belong to a union, you are fucked. So why should these people have kids?

Republicans want poor people to have kids but then they don't. Don't ask for any help though. And if the guy in NY tries to help by giving residents free daycare, call him a communist.

Actually I think it is the democraps who have abandoned the working class a long time ago because they are no longer useful except for votes. Democraps love money so they cater to the top 10% and buy enough votes with government handouts. Trump is the first POTUS in a long time who actually is trying to do something for the working class by giving them better opportunities, not handouts.

American corporations purposely sent those high paying union jobs overseas to increase profits.

You mean thanks to the loss of high paying union jobs in manufacturing?

Did you see recently they found illegals working at a Hyundi plant down south? That never happened at a union plant. The employees wouldn't allow it. Non union employees don't say a word.

You cons are so fooled by the rich in this country. They start tv fake news channels and brainwash you. In the 2000's you loved cheap shit from China cause they told you union workers suck. Now you realize you fucked up. You want those jobs to come back. But they won't be union jobs. Heck most will be robots.

I saw this and thought of this thread:

“We won’t negotiate because the stock market is going down” or shy away from taking strong measures against Beijing for that reason, Bessent said

“We will negotiate because we are doing what is best economically for the U.S.,” he said.

China “expects that the prospect of another market meltdown ultimately will force [President Donald Trump] to negotiate.”

Chinese President Xi Jinping is “betting that the U.S. economy can’t absorb a prolonged trade conflict” with China

I'm betting he's right. Xi doesn't have to worry about the midterm next year. Maybe we don't either. Trump has them rigged.

Why would it take 8 years to graduate college?

Many, many, many families.
define many, many, many? Is that enough? The facts say no.

The U.S. birth rate reached an all-time low in 2024, with a total fertility rate of approximately 1.6 children per woman, well below the 2.1 needed for population stability.

American men need to start ******* women more and stop ******* their couches

Because you can't afford to do it in 4. Why does it have to take 4 years? Many Americans complain that they graduated in 4 years with $100K in debt, or more, right? Well they could have went part time and paid off a lot of their school rather than throwing it on their student loan debt.

Work 1 years full time, go to school 1 year full time, work 1 year full time to save up for your sophomore year, etc. Instead of 4 take 8.

My buddy went to 5 years of Navy and graduated in 5 years. Why would it take 10 years to graduate you ask? Ask him. He's now 55 and a millionaire. Retired.
