China escalates the trade war

Hey you dumb ******* Republicans. Did you not think China would fight back?

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent accused China of trying to weaken the global economy by slapping export controls on resources vital for technology.

WAAAAH. I would think the GLOBAL ECONOMY would say the same thing about Trump and his tariffs.

“If they want to slow down the global economy, they will be hurt the most,” he said in an interview with the Financial Times.

Will they be hurt the most??? How much pain are USMB Republicans willing to put up with to win the war?

Could they be doing this because Trump started it?

Oct. 9 Beijing said it won’t allow the export of rare earths materials for military use, the first time it has targeted that specific use.

Could this be because Trump and Pete changed the DOJ to the DOW?

Trump has responded with 100% tariffs on Chinese goods starting Nov. 1 and has threatened to cancel the meeting with Xi. Markets have been volatile since the dispute escalated, with Wall Street stock averages down sharply to start the day Tuesday.

“They are in the middle of a recession/depression, and they are trying to export their way out of it. The problem is they’re exacerbating their standing in the world,” Bessent told the FT.

Let's see if Trump is right about this like he has been right about everything else. LOL.
Throw a Fortune Cookie at a Stone Wall, You Get Cookie Crumbs and Shredded Fortune Strips

China is bluffing, like everybody else trying to extort us, such as our own crooked business sector. If Trump refuses to back down, China will. So far, that's what all Trump's enemies have done after screeching scare stories.

I hope you are right but doesn't sound like reality. Good luck to Trump. We are all rooting for him. Even us who think he's a huge **** up and destroying this country. Hope we are wrong. Probably we aren't but whatever. Like we weren't wrong about Reagan or Bush but did you ever admit it?

Ambidextrous Apocalypse

No-talent brown-nosing Bizz Skule Bozos took over the corporations, not just the government.
Repubs and dems alike fell under the spell of globalism in the 1990s

China was viewed as a trading partner at that time not the enemy that they obviously are today

Training advanced chinese engineers (which we still do even today), exporting critical manufacturing such as lithium to china, and sending entire US industries to china, hardly anyone questioned it at the time

Only Ross Perot and perhaps warren Buffett and a few others warned against globalization of manufacturing

My alternative would have been leave it alone. Everything was just fine. Which country has the greatest economy in the world?
Everything was not just fine

China is illustrating the danger of letting them hold a monopoly over vital products that they can withhold whenever we displease them

Most business decisions are made for quarterly or annual goals. Many things are attractive in the short term but wreak havoc in the long term. Bad planning and a lot of corruption got us to this predicament.

So you are rooting for Trump to destroy this country?

Trump acts like he has a monopoly too. Every country MUST do what he tells them to do, or else suffer the tariffs.

So then the rest of the world must not think everything is fine with the USA. USA is illustrating the danger of letting one country have that much power. Perhaps Trump's decisions will get the world to stop using the USD as the global currency? I know Russia, China, Iran, India and other countries met just recently to discuss this.

On September 2 and 3, 2025, Donald Trump posted on his Truth Social platform, accusing the leaders of China, Russia, and North Korea of "conspir[ing] against The United States of America". The posts were prompted by a military parade in Beijing attended by Chinese President Xi Jinping, Russian President Vladimir Putin, and North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.

It doesn't even dawn on MAGA voters that anything bad that happens moving forward, is Trump's fault. And anything good too. Let's see what happens. But keep this in mind my friend. We both want the USA to win the trade war. No China is not the perfect trading partner. But is Trump's tactics effective? I don't think so. You seem to think so but remember how ******* loyal you are to the man. You recently found out he's in the Epstein file and that's okay by you. Don't you find that odd about you?

We have that much power thanks the size of our economy

China enjoyed spectacular growth in the 2000’s but yhat has slowed to a crawl today

And even the Euros snd no longer comparable to the US

Trump is attempting to leverage our advantage

China has a lot of power too thanks to their strategic planning and monopolies. What are we going to do about it? Get ready for more pain. To fix something that quite honestly, wasn't a problem last year. Oh you say it was a problem but America last time I checked had the strongest economy in the world. Doing better than every other country in the world including China.

I see us losing our influence in the next few years. Slowly. Eventually we're just another Australia.

Let's not forget other countries want to sell to the USA not buy from us. We're too expensive.

And who's buying? Trump's getting us all to buy American. So how much influence will we have when we stop buying from all these other countries?

Like I said, I don't think Trump or you have thought this all out completely and it's like you have not considered the unintended consequences.

I always ask myself "why didn't other politicians before Trump do this?" and then you see the unintended consequences. Those people probably considered those consequences Steve Miller, Bannon and Trump don't think of the consequences.

Neither you or I have a pat answer for trade with china

My ideal situation would be limited trade with china circa about 1990

But its too late for that now

However doing nothing means kicking the can down the road so that future generations of Americans will suffer the most

I’m not willing to go there

I want to leave the country stronger than what I inherited

No one said do nothing. You can always "do something" rather than nothing but what is it that you are going to do? Is it going to cause unnecessary pain? Could there possibly be a better way to do it?

This reminds me of Biden getting us out of Afghanistan. Who can be against getting us out of Afghanistan? Oh, so it's HOW he got us out you don't like. So you understand that no one is faulting Trump for doing something. It's what he's doing. Seems reckless and like he just opened up Pandora's box. Now we are in a trade war.

I'd almost rather be in a real war. Then I'm not the one suffering on the front lines. LOL.

The pain is real

But confronting china is necessary

You are looking for the easy way out and there isnt one

The shift of U.S. corporations to move production overseas began in the 1980s, influenced by various economic and political factors. This trend accelerated significantly with China's economic reforms in the late 20th century.

  • 1980s: The trend began as companies sought lower production costs, particularly in labor-intensive industries like textiles and electronics.
  • 1990s: The North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) and other trade deals facilitated the outsourcing of jobs, leading to significant job losses in the U.S.
  • 2000s: The shift intensified as companies increasingly relied on Chinese suppliers for a wide range of products, from consumer goods to complex components.
The combination of these factors created a landscape where offshoring became a common strategy for U.S. corporations, significantly impacting the domestic manufacturing sector.

Oh no. If I were POTUS I would have been much more strategic/smart about taking on China. I certainly wouldn't have waged a trade war with them.

And if I did, I certainly wouldn't have waged war with all our other trading partners. Literally drive them into China's arms. Japan and China hate each other but do you know who they hate worse? Trump.

I sense that China could go back to the stone ages and still be just fine. Their citizens have no opinion. No say. That's the trade off. If you want $3 a pack cigarettes you shut the **** up and do what the government says.

And btw, if Trump wants the rest of the world to stop buying from China and Russia, he needs to stop being suck a big ole dick. If you tariff India of course they are going to run to China. Indians are cheap. At least the ones who came to America are.
Are you stupid? Chinese economy cannot run on Indian customers.

Hi Dorian, I think you're hot. How old are you, how tall are you, and are you single? Hehehe. Btw, have you seen this thread: Why do geniuses seem to have disappeared

Because politicians and industry leaders in the West failed to protect their nations vital interests China now has us at s disadvantage

We no long produce the necessary products needed to keep our country running thanks to globalist morons wjo sold America and our allies out

And they’re winning and growing stronger as Trump is losing and becoming weaker.

That remains to be seen

The first 3 years of WWII looked pretty dark for the good guys too

It's too late. An analogy would be a lifelong smoker getting a diagnosis of lung cancer and then quitting smoking. The damage is done and irreversible. I remember a course in Game Theory I had during my MBA. When you can't win a game you either try to change the rules or try to change the entire game. China is beating us at our own game, so we have to change the game to benefit us. War is one option, but I surmise there are many other options that can be more beneficial. Hopefully people that are brilliant are helping the US Government brainstorm alternative possibilities before we are three steps to checkmate.

China is beating us at our own game,

Thats simply not true

America is a capitalist society where individuals outside of government make practically all the decisions

China is a modified communist dictatorship where government manages and directs the economy

We are two totally different systems
