You don't know what directly means, douchebag? Directly means when a target that is chosen is well known and preplanned to have civilians only. Such as when a Hamas terrorist walks into a pizza parlor and blows it up. Your article clearly says Israel was targetting the PLO and strongholds and areas that were under its control. That's exactly what the US did in Iraq and places like Falluja or in Taliban controlled areas of Afganistan, you fucking idiot. You can't even understand what you quote and go about making up shit about it's meaning.Roudy -
Nowhere does it say that civilians were targetted directly and intentionally.
I have no idea what you mean by "directly", but there is no question that targets included residential buildings, and non residential-targets were located in areas which meant any strike would cause civilian propoerties.
Beirut residents now experienced twenty straight hours of shelling.
Especially hard hit were the refugee camps and the Fakhani district. No place, however, appeared safe, as every civilian seemed to have been in close proximity to an exploding shell.
Among the damaged buildings were the American University Hospital, the prime minister's building, the Central Bank, the ministry of information, the offices of Newsweek and United Press International, and the two luxury hotels housing foreign journalists. Residential areas also experienced damage.
The link lists several incidents in more detail - please read it.
