CEO of United Healthcare Killed by Gunman

I bet he was using subsonic ammo to lessen the "crack". Paired with a silencer, this can make much less of a ruckus. Subsonic rounds though can sometimes lead to a failure to feed correctly. I routinely have to adjust the gas block on my AK if using subsonic rounds.
That crossed my mind also.

Probably a home-made suppressor, as he was ready for his gun to not cycle.
Or he practices a lot. Stoppage drills are common in good training programs.

Ironically enough, I have UHC and had JUST found out they denied me to pay for a prescription medication that my gastroenterologist said I needed. Then within a half hour I hear on the news the CEO of that company just got a bullet in his back.

You can't deny everyone. You play with fire you might get burned.

Remove gun ownership as a constitutional right, like normal societies.

Guns are practically illegal in NY. Didn't seem to make any difference.

Despite what you may have been told, we can't just magically remove all guns from the country. A buy back would only result in law abiding citizens losing their guns. Oddly enough, criminals aren't so concerned with breaking the law.

I was just coming to post this.

Wow.

Shooter is an amateur, the gun doesn’t cycle properly so he has to manually do it after each shot.
He didn’t test it with the “silencer” on it.

Not sure if it's that, or if he used subsonic ammo that doesn't cycle the gun. If you want less noise with a suppressor (no sonic "crack"), you need to use subsonic ammo, and sometimes that isn't powerful enough to cycle a semi-auto. If that's what happened, the dude is a pro who would know this.

When I heard he had a silencer, I was thinking "You can't suppress a sonic boom."

But alas, yes you can, if you can get your hands on subsonic ammo.

The head cop said 3 9mm cases were recovered, and I too suspect that the shooter used subsonic rounds and possibly had a catcher on it to try and capture the cases but something didn't work exactly, but he didn't seem fazed. Either a pro or very motivated.

Hmmm.....I wonder what was the motive...money probably. Big money. :dunno:

The fact that he had to manually cycle the gun each shot makes it seem to me like it was subsonic ammo. It doesn't have the kick that regular ammo does and thus doesn't have enough uumph to eject its own casing.

And yes, uumph is a universally accepted word in the gun community.

When they use an AI that denies 90% of Medicare claims and it is a FEATURE, NOT A BUG….you might piss off the wrong people.

Breaking…..

Apparently, this was targeted attack, and the killer is at-large. Happened outside NYC hotel.

So, let me give an observation. On Fox, they actually showed the hit. What I noticed is the shooter walked slowly like he may be an older person. Perhaps a senior citizen. Why would I point this out? United Healthcare is making changes to their Medicare Advantage programs. They are not renewing or selling any HMO programs. HMO programs do not cost any more than the Medicare payment of $178/mo. What they did instead was offer only a substandard PPO for $42/mo. per person. Those with preexisting conditions probably are very upset. I simply went to a site that shopped around and found another carrier that is better than the United Healthcare insurance HMO I had the past 2 years. Maybe this person had a preexisting condition that kept him from doing the same thing and he got mad and took it out on the CEO of United Healthcare.

I'm not sure where you get it was an older person. He seems to move like a younger person to me, and he's of very slight build.

Yet this is what you Wingnuts want, a bunch of greedy corporations deciding if you are entitled to health care or not.

He walked slowly towards his victim and then slowly away as in no hurry. There is a facial of him and he does appear possibly to be younger. Hard to tell. Maybe though a son of a senior citizen who is hurt by this. Where was his body guards?

1) From my observation it was a younger guy. He walked a few paces at a normal speed, and his stance was that of a youngish guy.

2) As far as the Medicare changes, I have regular Medicare and then have UHC as my supplemental, and they’ve covered everything. The Advantage Plans were never as good as just going with Medicare + a supplemental.
