But Trump v. Biden on immigration does pose a question. Biden and Harris are correct that people leaving their home countries to try to come here without out resources or relatives already here is a sign of despair, but also a calculated decision. Trump's response was to make their situations after they attempted to come here our of desperation even worse than what they faced in the first place. Is that the best we can do? Perhaps for adults. But do we just leave children on the border? And these are children whose homes were destroyed by hurricanes.

Common sense public charge laws date back to America's Colonial period
Unfortunately, there are those who are very much uniformed about our nation's history, and restrictive laws placed upon immigration.

Just for the record, as far back as our colonial period, public charge laws were enacted to prohibit the immigration of individuals who might become a public charge. One such law forbid ”… the admission of indigent migrants. This law was followed in the 18th century by other laws prohibiting the landing of “Sick, Lame, or Otherwise Infirm Persons,” and calling for bonds that were forfeited if immigrants of questionable means became public charges.” See: Public Charge Provisions of Immigration Law: A Brief Historical Background

And in more recent times, during the early 1900s when there were great numbers immigrating to the United States and had to be cleared for entry at Elis Island, many were not granted entry into the United States for a number of reasons. One reason to be rejected was the likelihood of becoming a ward of the state and a “public charge”, and on this ground alone some were refused entry!
Also, "Unescorted women and children were detained until their safety was assured through the arrival of a telegram, letter, or a pre-paid ticket from a waiting relative. Immigration officials refused to send single women into the streets alone, nor could they leave with a man not related to them. LINK
The law also required a medical inspection of all immigrants, and if an inspection officer detected an applicant with a disease, especially contagious diseases (TB, venereal disease, etc.) and even mental illness, they were rejected.
So, the remaining question is: why is our federal government, including our Supreme Court, ignoring common sense public charge rules, and allowing the United states to be filled with the poverty stricken, poorly educated, low skilled, diseased, disabled and criminal populations of Central America? And how does this promote the general welfare of the United States and her citizens, and especially so when American Citizens pay federal taxes so our federal government will “repel invasions” and promote the general welfare of the United States and her citizens?
Why are our constitutionally guaranteed protections being ignored?

In Obama's second term, the Freedom Caucus prevented the House from voting on any bill that would have had any policy other than immediate deportation for the millions working here, and raising children who are, and always will be, American citizens.
Trump had no actual policy beyond the political and his visceral enjoyment of inflicting more misery on helpless people who only sought to have less misery.
Biden apparently was naive in thinking 60 senators could agree on some rational response

No, it's certainly not the kids' fault, and we have to do what's right. But the Democrats have to look in the mirror regarding their own rhetoric on immigration. As with virtually every other issue right now, pretty much everything is all or nothing, so these people heard what the Dems were saying and figured the door was open. Who can blame them?
This kind of back and forth shit will continue until and unless we drop this stupid tribal crap.

You're right about that... its the all or nothing partisan games that are killing us. Each side is pandering to an absolute position instead of trying to find logical solutions. The Left likes to speak in platitudes and appeal to the humanity of things. They are contrasting a very heartless attitude that Trump pour gasoline all over. The Republican have been destroyed by their acceptance and association with that kind of rhetoric. But support of the opposition of that won't last long if practical solutions aren't discussed and reached. The Dems have a short window to actually do something and not just talk like the good guys.

It's Mexico's fault for assisting and allowing "the kids" to travel though Mexico on to their way to the United States, the land of free government cheese. And what is right is to prevent those kids from entering the United States and leaving them for Mexico's government to attend to which allowed them into their country in the first place.

That's absolutely true. I failed to mention the dems played politics with open borders thinking they'd gain voters as children became adults. But that is only half true. Latino immigrants are like all other immigrants. They vote for their own self-interest.
And I personally give Biden the benefit of the doubt on things. He's much less a moderate than he is pragmatic, but imo he generally wants to make things better. But he failed bigly in not having a clear policy
