The animals were selected as KINDS. And GOD only sent to Noah those creatures that were land animals. So, there were no aquatic creatures upon the Ark. This greatly reduces the number of animals you might think Noah needed upon the Ark. I do not believe that all species are in fact entirely different within a KIND. There are dog kinds, cat kinds, cattle kind... This would again greatly reduce the numbers of animals required on the ark even more. The diversity occurred after the FLOOD --- but only within KINDS. The Bible isn't specific as to what a KIND is; however, I can imagine that breeding within each KIND was unrestricted and fruitful. Did Noah need a pair of "Woolly Mammoths", a pair of "African" Elephants, and a pair of "Indian" Elephants? Or did Noah only need a pair of Elephants ---- which comprised the DNA for every possible KIND of elephant? I do believe that every organism is unique in some way. Yet, I also believe that uniqueness has been limited by GOD by the KIND into which GOD assigned each and every organism. Look at man. There are red, yellow, black, brown, and white men. There are hairy men, bald men, tall men, short men, big headed men, broad chested men, skinny men, muscular men, big nose men, fine featured men, chiseled chin men, una-eyebrow men, straight haired men, curly haired men, blond haired men, black haired men, brunette haired men, red haired men, heavy men, thin men, intelligent men, and thoughtful men, creative men, imaginative men, athletic men, artistic men, and more. And yet with all this diversity, we originated from the Adam and Eve KIND. I believe you think narrowly as you do because you have been limited by the scope of your humanistic, atheistic, hedonistic, materialistic education experience. Your scope of thinking is limited by a theory that rejects a proactive Creator and needs greater and greater eons of time to fabricate everything from nothing. You don't think outside the box because you have been told exactly what the box must contain and exclude. You may think a Christian is limited by his belief in GOD. But in reality, the Christian will (throughout all eternity) continue to discover more and more about GOD and never run out of new revelations. Whereas the atheist has thrown out the essence of what eternity entails. It didn't cause a 40 days worldwide flood. And given the number of species around today, no boat would have been big enough to carry them all... otherwise you need evolution."the events recorded are as they occurred", so where's the geologic proof for the worldwide flood? The Bible is not a science book; however, its observations are true. The Bible is not a history book, and yet the events recorded are as they occurred. The Bible is a spiritual book and explains what is wrong with humanity and our relationship with our Creator and why. The Bible is a love story that explains what GOD did in order to save whosoever will believe in HIM.The Bible is not a science book. Nor is science a book of morals, philosophies, or history. Reading the Bible as a Science Book will get you about as far as reading a novel as a math book.I've read the book, went to a Catholic private school run by priests, catechism classes... I never saw a connection to god through that book, because it doesn't make any sense, given what science has taught us.Science | AAAS

It was actually a worldwide climate disruption that affected weather patterns and caused extensive flooding around the globe.
