Of course both of them knew. They are both AG's (Clinton is a former AG)... but it was worth the risk. Clinton does not want any indictments in the investigations and Lynch wanted to calm his fears, letting him know that she remembers that he gave her the federal judge job during his administration, preparing her path to the AG job. She will be loyal to the Clintons.
