That's a common misinformation. The biggest difference, though, is that Germany restricts its citizens from owing or possessing self defense while Americans (for the time being) are still protected by a tattered 2nd Amendment.
In my dangerous nation, I never leave home without loaded self protection. An unloaded gun is no defense against a knife attack or some other assault. That's a common misinformation.
All one needs is a clean police record and to enlist into a shooting/rifle club.
The only thing (thank God) were Germany differs, is that no one (unless a state security related person) is allowed to carry a ready loaded gun with him.

Not wanting to make an "endless discussion" out of this topic - but e.g. a knife stabbing you in the side or armpit will render your loaded gun useless. So yeah it entirely depends onto the situation. In my dangerous nation, I never leave home without loaded self protection. An unloaded gun is no defense against a knife attack or some other assault.
True. In firearms training, the most important lesson taught is "situational awareness." Try to avoid dangerous areas in the first place. If you must enter a danger zone, look all around you (360°) all the time. If you recognize a threat, prepare to protect yourself before the potential threat is within a 21' radius (better yet, 30').Not wanting to make an "endless discussion" out of this topic - but e.g. a knife stabbing you in the side or armpit will render your loaded gun useless. the JochiWhat are you trying to say?
Militia cannot stop a brutal Mongol horde; the Moscow–Ukrainian war has proved it again. There are more Firearms in Private Hands ( Non Military / Non LEO )
Back to the topic, we really have three free countries pumping out (nonfirearm) shells by the bushel: South Korea, Germany, and the US. Germany and the US have been re-ramping up shell production, while SK is a major producer because of the threat of their northern friends.
Other free countries (UK) for example make shells but completely at a different tier than these bruisers.
The weapons industry is booming all over Europe. Taking important steps to secure peace in Europe. Congratulations to Germany! Bad news for theMoscow Predatory empire

Remember the last time Germany was unified and heavily built up their arms. Not good news. The whole world is going in the wrong direction. No one trusts anyone anymore. trump has infected the whole world with his paranoia and fear-mongering.

If you would actually be aware about Germany's past 71 years "army experience" and mentality of the government - the last country in Europe one would want to take charge of a European army, would be Germany, you might just as well chose Luxembourg.Looks like its part of the plan...
Germany should take over the historically American role of NATO Europe commander, D. Trump’s envoy
Germany pivoting on defense investments foreshadows a larger EU trend. Expect Rheinmetall & co. valuations to surge. Really bad news for Moscow empire

ABP, Europe's largest pension fund at €501B, settled this in 2023. Policy: “We invest in weapons, not in wars.” Only internationally banned weapons excluded: cluster munitions, chemical agents. Conventional defense was never off the table. Germany catching up.
...
A good point. Still:If you would actually be aware about Germany's past 71 years "army experience" and mentality of the government - the last country in Europe one would want to take charge of a European army, would be Germany, you might just as well chose Luxembourg.
+1.Pretty certain this thread is about cannon/artillery shells not small arms.
