The whole world doesn't revolve around who gets more than you.
Envy is one of those deadlies.
You want to go around life resenting everyone who has more than you, you'll spend all of your days being resentful because there will always be someone with more than you have. And resenting others is never going to solve anything.
It's amazing the kind of people that buy into resentment and envy. It tells me a lot about them.
As far as Deadlies go, I'm personally fond of Wrath. But Greed is also one of those Deadlies, or were you asleep that day?
It isn't about resentment, it's about practicality, and clearly you didn't comprehend my statement.
I don't want wealth fairly distributed because I "envy" what Mitt has.
I want it distributed because that's what makes for a healthy society.
Societies where you only have two classes- Rich and Grindingly Poor, usually turn up badly, if you missed the whole France in 1789 or Russia in 1917 or Iran in 1979 thing. Eventually, people figure they ain't got nothing to lose if they upset the apple cart. They're wrong. In almost all those cases, things DID get worse.
Having a middle class means you have people with a stake in the game. No, I don't want a mansion and I wouldn't know what to do with a Polo Pony. I'm happy with my Condo and my cat, thank you.
But if you are finding ways to make bigger profits by making the middle class smaller, then you are really self defeating in a number of ways.
First, you make government their friend. If you are trying to support a family on that McJob salary at staples, you are going to need government help, which they will happily provide- in exchange for your vote.
Second, if no one has money to buy those consumer goods, eventually, you don't have customers, no matter how good your service or product is. As that pinko Henry Ford once said, "If my employees can't afford my products, I don't have a business."
