*Camp Mystic: Flooding In Texas Could Not Of Been Prevented*

You got it. In Spades

Bring it!

People forget. I live in Hurricane Alley, the SW Coast of Florida. I have personally gone through 5 MAJOR Hurricanes with no damage to my house. I'm far enough away from the Coast and have been lucky. Had a few houses just around the corner get hit by a Hurricane-Spawned Tornado. Knocked the crap out of them just last year. Watched a few go by me, too.
I have cousin that lives in Boynton Beach. She owns a small cinder block 2 BR cottage. When there is a storm warning all her friends camp out there until the storm passes.

You will anyway, you have no choice...But you made the statement, now you got nothing?

So weak dude....
I can't set my hand to solving every problem. I designed a cap to stop the flow of oil in the Deepwater Horizon oil disaster, but they ignored it so why bother.

Look, this is a discussion board....Now, I know it really seems like it's a hit and run, bs board, but it's supposed to generate discussion on issues....You decided that you'd try a hit and run, and I asked you to delve a little deeper, and you got nothing....

What a waste...What's the matter with you people?

I think the solution is pretty obvious. Relocate Mystic Camp to high ground (and of course change the name). Don't fight nature or the topography. Take the lesson and run with it.

That didn't take much thought did it.

Most of the camps stuff is water related activates.

They can take buses to the water for those activities. I used to vacation in a small town next to a nice river. In "Riverside Park" was a large above-ground swimming pool where everyone swam. No one swam in the river.

I also went to a Church camp next to the Rock River in Wisconsin. The camp had a huge round in-ground swimming pool that also served as a baptismal pool. No one swam or did anything in the Rock River.

And when the owners of the property tell you to go jump in the lake, then what?

So, because of your limited experience, you think you can tell others what to do? Where does this hubris come from?

Look, the owners of this summer camp f'ed up monumentally....They failed to head the appropriate warnings, so after the ensuing law suits, they're going to be bankrupt anyway, so you don't have to worry about it.

Sorry bout that,

1. Oh boy here is what MYSTIC means Webster says.
2. And its so bad, I cant elaborate, just read it and weep.
3. They've been sending thier girls to Mystic, for decades I guess.
4. Its bad, real bad, I cant say enough.

Sorry bout that,

1. Camp Mystic, was wiped out, there is fault in thier name, Camp Mystic, might as well been, * Camp Evil Intent *, it harmed these children, if brought the wrath of G-D to them, which they didnt see that coming, just girls romping around.
2. Its easy to sit there and claim it was not G-D.
3. This was a huge amout of rain, in a short period of time, creating a 26' wall of water rushing down the river, gobbling up anything at its shores at 4 am.
4. Its time to look at our mistakes, Camp Mystic was wiped out and they should never come back.
5. Choose the names of our place of leisure better, lets stop making G-D mad, he will put a stop to it.
6. We need to stop putting our children in dangerous places, stop sending our children to Camp Evil.
7. Call it, G-D's Grace Place.

On behalf of that post, I have decided that you are now classified as criminally insane. Welcome to my ignore list. No one should have to suffer that level of stupid. I recommend others do the same.

2. My whole point is to defend these girls, from the stupidity of Mystic Camp, thats why this happened, they ruined those kids lives, that should not be intolerated, i wont tolerate it, hell no.
3. They should be sued to hell!!
4. If that was possible, staight to hell with you! lol!

Floods can't be prevented. Loss of life could have though.

The GOP rammed through Tort reform about a decade ago. So the payouts in the certain to come lawsuits will be pennies on the dollar of what the families are owed and the camp will be re-built near the same spot. Sometime (probably not in the too distant future) the same or a similar tragedy will happen again.

Sorry bout that,

1. They wrote the childrens names on the with a black marker, in order to identify them, when dug out of the mud.
2. Criminal Action, why not just leave the river, walk the kids out to safety, no, raise up for shirts girls so I can write your names.

3. I could not open this, but I read what was in it, im locked out of anything MSN.

The camps along the Guadalupe River. Luckily most wasn't having campers that week. But you can see how much the river brings to the economy there.
