Awesome. It's about time they got companies like Thumbtack, GrubHub and Uber under control.

Democrats want everyone unemployed so this makes sense.
The Gig Economy. If an employee works for themselves, companies don't have to pay SS, Unemployment Ins., Health Ins., Disability Ins. There are no hiring and firing issues and law suits. It is a win win for employers. Down side, more people out of work and on the government dole. Just where the democrats want to keep them.

Abuse of contractors has been a long struggle. Employers love calling people contractors or freelancers which is usually not in the interest of the employees. The IRS rules need to be revisited.

The Democrats know this law hurts people, that's why they want it. They believe that the more miserable people are, the more they will vote for Democrats and their social programs. The end goal is a nation where a small minority work and pay extremely high taxes, while the vast majority are idle and collect welfare. This vision is unsustainable, but the Democrats think they can pull it off.

It worked so well in Venezuela.

Oh, wait...

The day AB-5 legislation passes federally, you can expect trucking in the US to come to a standstill.

Last week Houston ran out of food without trucking in 3 days.

Good luck.
Have you noticed that since the CCP/DNC virus, that grocery shelves nationwide have had less product on them then in the past? I was taught in grade school in the 60's that grocery shortages were commonplace in communist countries and that was why western countries were better. China Joe figures that we can get used to shortages. It is called global equity. Welcome to the US under China Joe, Kameltoe and their communist DNC handlers.

Seems like blue states have better outcomes for their people than red states. One link below.

Who is forcing those people to work those jobs?

And how exactly did they do that, Walter? Why don’t you enlighten us

They make money off of people without providing fair wages and providing benefits...

But like past protests and strikes, the estimated nearly one million Uber drivers in the US ran up against a problem embedded in the predatory structure of the company, as well as that of rivals like Lyft: They may be doing work, but these aren’t supposed to be “jobs” in the technical sense. At a time when even traditionally powerful unions are losing their ability to defend benefits for workers, these drivers exist in a legal category where they are both vulnerable to exploitation and unable to access the usual tools to fight for better treatment.
“The company is built on disdain for workers and regulations,” Rick Claypool, research director at Public Citizen, a left-leaning advocacy group, said of Uber. “It’s hard to see how it’s going to change.”
