If you take a state like Maine where they made food stamps requirements, it greatly reduced the dependency class of childless people. They likely found alternative means for buying food like getting a job, and they are the better for it.

There is no evidence of that. It is possible that they tried to meet the requirements but were unable to do so and so they didn't bother to show up. There was no follow-up to determine what happened to them.

How were they unable to meet the requirements? All they had to do is one of three things:

Must have a part-time job working at least 20 hours a week.
Must be in a vocational school.
Must do 20 hours A MONTH in volunteer work.

It's not just Maine, this is catching on in other Republican run states and having proven results. These people don't need food stamps, they are taking them because it's free and DumBama pushed them to create more government dependents.

What world do you live in? Yes, people are limiting their income to keep their food stamps. Trust me, I work in industry every day. Some of our customers use temporary agencies. When they get busy, they ask their temps to work overtime. Most of them refuse because if they make more money, the government takes it out of their food stamp allowance.

We are a compassionate country and we don't tell people who are poor to drop dead. Food stamps are not easy to get. In my state if you make more than $1200, you don't get food stamps. That equates to $14,400.

Then the solution is not food stamps, the solution is to earn more money. $14,400 is a $7.00 an hour job working a little less than 40 hours a week. And even if that was the case, you can work weekends if your company doesn't offer overtime. When I was younger, it wasn't uncommon that I had two jobs, and at one time, three jobs.
