Trump is toxic, and hated by the party. However, dumping Trump alienates a good chunk of his voters.

If there was a white knight to rally around, the Republicans might risk that. However, all they realistically have is Cruz, who is almost as unpopular as Trump.

So, between a rock and a hard place, the Republicans are.

If there were a White Knight, of course, he/she would be the presumptive nominee by now, and Trump would have long ago quit the race, or perhaps not entered the race at all.

But there is no White Knight; indeed, Trump is merely a symptom of the disease that’s been crippling the GOP for years.

Republicans need to find a cure for that disease, not a White Knight.
